Gettin to St. Croix
I'll be staying on St. John the week of the 12th and would like to get to St. Croix on one of those days but it looks like the ferry only runs from St. Thomas to St. Croix on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. None of those days would work for me, it would have to be during the week!
Is there another way to get there? I looked into the seaplane but at $300 round trip for two, it seems a bit much. Also, if I shuffled my plans so that one of the days that it does run would work, it looks like the last ferry leaves St. Croix at 4:30pm, not leaving a lot of time to be on the island.
Has anyone else ventured down there? If so, how did you go about it?

I do not recommend the ferry at all. They call it the barge barge for a reason, it can be a very rough long trip.
STX is great but it is not really a day trip from STJ. You have to ferry to STT and then get to the ferry dock or the seaplane then to STX and then do it all over again on the way back.
STX is a great island, but between STT, the VERY nearby BVI,and the island of STJ itself, you will will more than enough to keep you busy, in my opinion.

Hey swimming....why not just stay on St. Croix. We've done it several times, and it's really neat. It is worth it just to go snorkeling at Buck Island...wonderful snorkel! I don't know what ATV's you are talking about, but between them and Buck Island, I think you'd enjoy staying on St. Croix!

Here are the ATVs I'm talking about:

I'm looking forward to the Jeep being like an ATV, Xislandgirl!
If we don't get to go to St. Croix this time, guess it'll be an excuse to go again!

We are staying on STT this December for 10 days and I have arranged a surprise trip for my hubby to go to STX for the day to hit a beach or 2 then the casino! He loves the casino's and the ones on STT are not really casinos! I am in no way shape or form getting on the "barf barge" so I booked us tickets to take the sea plane over....something I have always wanted to ride in! Here is the website for the company we are using:

You would have to take off from STT I believe because I don't think they fly from STJ. Good luck!!!
