You have to bring an app to Marta Stewart's house TONIGHT
You have one hour MAX to prepare. It has to feed 5 people.
What do you bring?

Well, if we are going to Martha’s I think the important thing is not to try and out-Martha Martha. You cannot compete with her cooking skills, so I would bring something simple and foolproof. Here are some ideas:
1. Five-minute appetizer: buy a box of grissini breadsticks. Cost the top third of each with a thin smear of butter and wrap a thin slice of prosciutto around, covering the butter completely. Put the grissini in a short, pretty vase for display.
2. Buy a good baguette and slice it on a sharp angle. Toast the baguette slices until firm. Top each with a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese. Pile on chopped fresh tomatoes (get a mix of red, orange, yellow, and green zebra if you can), and basil that’s been mixed with olive oil, salt and pepper. Arrange on a platter and decorate with sprigs of basil.
3. Make a big plate of devilled eggs with chives and shallots mixed into the filling. Half topped with sweet paprika, half with hot, and extra chives (plus chive flowers if you can get them) for garnish. If you need to save time you can buy the eggs preboiled from the salad bar (though you should really boil them yourself for best texture). Everyone loves deviled eggs, even if they won’t admit it, and Martha will think you’re cheeky for bringing them.
4. Do we have time for freezing, if the prep is under an hour? This one is especially Martha. Buy a bunch of English cucumbers (choose ones that are not curved). Scrub well and peel in alternate stripes, then cut into 2” lengths, discarding the ends. Hollow out the pieces with a melon baller or grapefruit spoon, being sure to leave a base and sides, then freeze. Meanwhile, prepare a simple gazpacho, blend until smooth and chill. Pour the gazpacho into the semi-frozen cucumber cups and serve.
5. Three-ingredient appetizer: pit a bunch of dates (tip: use a plastic straw to push the pit out). Cut real parmesean cheese into small chunks and stuff inside the dates. It’s OK if some sticks out. Cut good bacon into thirds and wrap around each date. Bake on a rack at 375 until bacon is crisped. Serve warm with toothpicks. These do reheat well.
6. No-cook appetizer. Thread a small ball of fresh mozzarella, a basil leaf, and a grape tomato onto a skewer. Arrange skewers in a circular pattern on a platter, with a bowl of pesto sauce (omit the garlic) in the center for dipping.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I was thinking about the breadsticks and I have to buy proscuitto for a recipe for tomorrow night, so that might work.
My other thought was a blue cheese walnut spread served with green apple, pear, and water crackers.
Greyhoundmom- if I brought that dip, I am fairly confident that my friend would have a stroke
