In December I take 2 pairs, one of which I wear on the plane (cold weather shoes). The other pair is sandals.
In May I may take 2 pairs, both sandals...............just want a little variety this time.
I HATE shoes, only wear them when I HAVE to.
I tend to dress pretty simple when on STJ, nothing fancy just comfort. My oldest cruddiest sandals fit my style, just don't anyone judge me by my shoes!!!! Oh, and I hate tennis type shoes, never wear those.

I just got back from JCrew, where I bought 2 more pairs of flip flops. We vowed that we were not going to check any bags ... carry-on only. I have over a month before we go, but I'm going to have to start packing now if I'm going to pull that off! I also have a different suit and coverup for everyday of the week, with flip flops to match each one. We plan to stay very casual while we are there, so I guess I just won't take much clothes.
How do you all fit it all into a carryon?

Once we went down to Jamaica and the weather report looked reasonable. So I got cocky and did not wear socks. When we got back it was 20 degrees and blowing snow. I put my dive booties on in my Tevas before we went to the car. Now, that looked a little kinky.wishwewerethere wrote:Rick, I don't feel so bad about wearing socks with my Birkenstock's on the way down anymore
Thanks! I'll have a new confidence thinking of you in your socks and tevas. What are the old men's braided leather sandals called? They wear them with with black socks? We are a step up for sure!
Now we take the cab to the airport.

Wishwewerethere - I do just that. I take my flip flops off after take-off (God forbid you take your shoes off BEFORE take-off - the flight attendant NAZIS will tear your head off) and stuff them in my bag and put on warm socks. I take them off and put my flip flops back on before we land.
What can I say, I get cold feet.

I always have a pair of socks (little footies) in my backpack for the airport. I hate when I forget and have to put my shoes on the X-ray thing and go through barefoot. ewww And guaranteed, if I'm standing there in bare feet in December at O'Hare, then the X Ray machine watcher will find something really fascinating to look at on the screen while my shoes are in there...

Yeah- that shoes off, barefoot thing really bothers me. They need to disinfect the floor after each passenger. I'm not always germphobic just with some things and that is one of those things for me. Last year I grabbed some of those shoe covers in line and kept them for the next airport. At least they are starting to accomodate us germphobes

When will I see St John again?
