First Trip report day 8 & 9 - The Finally
First Trip report day 8 & 9 - The Finally
Day 8 & 9:
Day 8:
We decided that our whole family would spend the day at Megans Bay. Love this beach. First stop in the am was to Lattes in Paradise and to Burrito Bay Deli. Burrito Bay was such a disappointment. Defiantly not the Burrito Bay it used to be. Got all our sandwiches wrong even after I wrote down what needed to be on what. Had no clue what a “wrap” was or what was in any of the sandwiches on the menu. I really hope they can get their act together. Anywho, got to Megans around 11:30 went all the way down to the left out of the way of the crowds and camped out on the beach.

Morning was a mix of sun and clouds, but in the afternoon, a thunderstorm came in to the end of the bay. It was really cool to hear the thunder in the distance and see the lightning out at sea. We stayed until about 3pm. Made a stop at Udder Delight for a Jamoco Shake and headed back to Sapphire. We all got showered and dressed and headed to East End Café for our last nights dinner as a family. Great meal. Very fresh salads, great bread, and wonderful pasta entrees. We headed back to Sapphire, and all us “kids” sat on our porch and played drinking games till 12am. Headed to bed and was sad that this was our last day here.
Day 9:
My self, husband, and brother in law were up at 7am and showered and out the door by 8:30. The rest of my family had a few more days left, very jealous. Returned the car and was at the airport at 9:15 for our 11:15 flight. Wow the airport was dead this day. We were the only ones in the customs line when we went through. We defiantly could have left a little bit later. I’ve never taken a flight this early off the island, we usually take a 4pm flight. This I liked better b/c I didn’t have the morning to hang at the pool and make the dreadful leaving feeling linger. Got to San Juan w/o issue and then got the 2pm flight to Boston. Got home after driving around 9pm.
We had all sorts of plans that never came to fruition. Like taking the Ferry to Jost, going to certain restaurants, going to Smith Bay beach. But this is fine with me, just means there are other things to look forward to for next years trip.
For some reason, this year I’ve got the post vacation blues bad. It’s been a extremely stressful year as a new business owner and I needed this vacation for my sanity. I’m just sad it came and went so quickly and now I have to wait 9 more months to go back. It really is such a special place to be.
