My books went to STJ and I got...

Post by chicagoans »

...an autograph!

Some friends recently got back from their first trip to STJ. They stayed at Francis Bay Estate -- sweet! -- had a trip with Captian John Brandi and of course LOVED the island.

Before they left I think I was nearly as excited for them as they were. I loaned them my Feet, Fins & 4WD and Off the Beaten Track books with strict instructions not to bring them back in pristine condition. I wanted sand between the pages, rings from being used as coasters for island drinks, and pages made fat and wavy from getting soaked. But better yet, one came back with an autograph!

While sitting in Aqua Bistro, someone noticed my friend reading through F F & 4WD, and pointed out that Pam Gaffin (the author) was there at the same time. So my friend introduced herself, and Pam wrote a nice note to me in the book. Cool! Pam, if you're reading this -- thank you! And I too hope I'm back soon.

My friends also brought back a shirt for DH and for me: some Cruz Bay Grill Rub (my fave) and a special 'hangover tea' from Ruth's shop that just might come in handy one of these days.

We had a great dinner with them last night, hearing about their trip and reliving some of our favorite memories of STJ. Ahhhh, St . John... Just thinking about it makes me happy.
