Advice on using websites that check hotel availability?

Post by Maryanne »

We're going on a last-minute trip next week to an area that's busy. Every hotel I look at individually is booked. Can anyone recommend a good website that will list hotels, in a good informative fashion, that have availability for your dates?

Thank you!

have you looked at the area's tourism site or chamber of commerce? like sandiego.com or something like that?

I thought Travelocity would do that (for major cities).

I recently had to reschedule plans to a busier weekend and a website for the area (similar to what MB is suggesting) found me what I needed.

Thank you for the suggestions. Chamber of Commerce good idea, except just a sad outdated .pdf list for where I'm going (Saratoga Springs) !

oh boy! it's racing season. no wonder you can't find a place! are you looking for hotel or b&b or just whatever you can get?

when are you going? charlie and I have stayed here and I see they have some weekday availability but nothing on weekends. this place is OLD and a little creepy to me but it was clean and the breakfast was good. The inkeeper was really nice as well.
we were also there in the dead of winter so I think that had to do with my "creepy" feeling.

You can search by date on Expedia, and it's showing availabilities, but not cheap.....

thanks again everyone, and MB..

we are indeed going to races. a friend's horse is racing and it's kind of a last minute jaunt. the good thing is we are staying only thursday night and probably friday night so better chance at availability...

prices very high for those residence type chain places !

but we've always wanted to go here so should be great!
