Need Help with DBFT Signature Drink Recipe---The Ballwasher

Post by kellyanna »

Wontongirl and I are looking for a yummy recipe to put in our "The Bag 2 Go" beverage system
www.thebag2go.com
This recipe will be our DBFT signature drink---The Ballwasher.

I'd prefer Vodka and lemons, but wontongirl is wanting to be more creative---something good that we can drink all day (pace ourselves)---not too sweet---something with Cruzan. We've looked at the Cruzan website and there are wonderful suggestions---just wanted to see if ya'll had a favorite recipe we could enjoy.

We've got koozies/koolers for the winner (or anyone that wants one)

Thank you!

Here's some that we had enjoyed in the past...

Tropical Itch (fits into the BallWasher theme )
1oz. Vodka
1oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Orange Curacao or Grand Marnier
3 - 4 oz. Passion Fruit Juice

Planter's Punch
2 oz. Dark Rum
2 oz. Orange Juice
2 oz. Pineapple Juice
1/2 oz. Lime Juice
Dash Grenadine

Tony's Special
1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum
1/2 oz. Apricot Brandy
2 oz. Orange Juice
2 oz. Pineapple Juice
1/2 oz. Lime Juice
(This recipe came from Tony, the bartender at the beach bar at Hedonism II in Jamaica on our honeymoon)

Those should get you started. Remember, you have to taste tes all of the recipes! Image

I LOVE the Bag toGo idea. Last trip I packed a half gallon thermos with a strap, but it took up so much room in my carry-on I left it at the villa. It looks like this little jewel takes up almost no room when it is empty.

If I'm going to sip on something throughout the day, I prefer something not too sweet. I love painkillers, but after a few of those, it gets pretty sweet. I like cranberry mixed with vodka or rum. I also figure it's going to keep my bladder healthy.

There are some really good drink recipes on the Cruzan Rum website (www.cruzanrum.com). I'm a fan of the Cruzan Confusion: 1 oz Cruzan® mango rum, 1 oz Cruzan® coconut rum, 1 oz pineapple juice. Wasn't someone putting together an island cookbook that include drink receipes? Cheers. Ali~

That's me putting together the cookbook.............

I REALLY DO need some drink recipes from all of you. I'm thinking about waiting until June to start pinging on you guys for recipes. It seems like half the forum will be on Island in May, so there hopefully will be a lot of good ideas!! :P

Whatever you guys come up with, it'll be fun to have a "large quantity" recipe from the DBFT!!!!

"Ballwasher".....................I LOVE IT!!!

my favorite is an ice cold bottle of parrot bay rum in an ice chest and diet coke on the side. Juice drinks really mess with the stomach. Otherwise i am a big fan of a good scotch on the rocks so I am definitly not the person for this type of recipe. We did make drinks with cruzan and coconut ice cream that were VERY good!

Jan (aka Charlie)---I didn't even think of the recipe adjustments for a large amount! It won't be just doubled--I'm sure. I'm picturing us in an industrial environment mixing this---white coats, gloves, hair nets and protective eyewear!

Cat-I'm like you---pretty simple, straight forward drinking. Don't usually need anything froofrooey. Usually a beer or vodka on rocks with a bunch of lemon. Can see me drinking the diet Coke & Cruzan most of the time.

Something to knock you on your butt:

Blackout Punch (Kenny from the Quiet Mon says it's his recipe... I heard some grumblings about that not being true)

Highball glass; ice, about 1oz strawbery puree, 3-4oz Stoli's, 1 oz red bull, finish off with either diet sprite/7-up or regular sprite/7-up. Stir & drink with a straw.

The key is that you do not taste the vodka even though there is loads in it, they are not really sweet like a pure fruit juice drink. After 4-5 of these I don't remember what happened
When will I see St John again?

MrsB, it sounds like it would take much less than 3 or 4 of those for me to not remember anything!

A few weeks ago, at my house, we "invented" Cruzan floats. Light Cruzan, diet coke with lime and coconut icecream. You could probably also use a flavored rum but that might be too sweet.

They will not likely work for the Ballwasher because they're not portable with the icecream, but I still recommend them!

kygirl, I have the sling The Bag 2 Go in purple as it well coordinate well for LSU Tailgating. Wontongirl has both styles! I think her's are both black. We have a few of the refill bags. The refill bags are just easy to go and dispose. (Sometimes it's hard to get reusable items like beverage bags cleaned well.)

We'll report on how well it worked for us...If we remember!

Dear contributors to this thread,

If you would like a DBFT koozie/koolie, pm your address to me, or e-mail me and I'll get them mailed to you!

Thank you so much everyone for your recommendations. We may end up having a Ballwasher I and a Ballwasher II. That Drink with Red Bull sounds interesting. Will taste test it. Have got to get some ingredients.
