On feeling guilty

Post by Capn Dan and Ruby »

Any one reading please overlook any spelling errors in this post.
I was just reading Gromit's post from 4 pages ago. Loved it and all the posts to follow. I really get it. Four years ago we went to St. John for a week and cried when we had to leave. I love genuinely natural areas, so SJ was up my ally. We had to wait two years to return, in that expanse of time we dreamed, reminisced, and lurked on the foum reading and dreaming, forgetting about the "imperfections" that never bothered me on the first trip. Upon our arival I saw these. Why had I not seen thes things, had the island changed in two years? It took me about 3 days to realize what it was that kept us coming back. I couldn't explain it to any one if I had too, I just love the place for some reason. We just got back after another 2 year stretch. This time was different. I knew that it would take me about two days to relax and "get it", then I immediatly dreaded leaving. Next year it will be 2 weeks and we are not skipping a year. We were trying to think of other places that we could go, and we worry that we are not giving other places a try, but it is like having your favorite dish at your favorite resturant, it is hard to give up. And like the person wanting to see the giant pigs, I too want to see them. I love St. John , warts and all!

Darn it! 5 years of coming here and I STILL haven't seen those pigs! Looked for them the past 10 days. Another thing on the to do list still: Centerline Swine.

Saw a pig in early July. Nothing special. Just a pig.

The pig we saw was a giant black hog. It could look right over the top of the hood without getting on its back legs. That was 2 yrs ago.

When my wife and I were on St. John a few years ago as we were walking to dinner at ZoZo's we saw a guy walking a pig on a leash. That was a new one for us and something we will never forget. And no neither my wife or myself drink!! :D
