Tell me about Cruz Views

Post by Capn Dan and Ruby »

We are looking at Cruz Views. Can any one tell me about them. We are concerned with the noise level at night mostly, but would like to know about any thing else that any of you have experienced there. Be sure to let me know which unit you stayed in.

We stayed at Cruz Views (unit #7) for over a week in mid-December last year. We noticed no noise issues, except the heavenly sound of tree frogs. Earlier posts may have mentioned construction noise from the Sirenusa project (which CV overlooks), but nothing was happening there during our trip. Very late one night we heard someone yell, but this happened only once.

We chose CV because of its view and proximity to Cruz Bay -- about a 10-15 minute walk. Be advised that it's up a fairly steep, but paved, road (Pocket Money Lane). We walked to/from town every evening, and enjoyed seeing the gent who lives in the house at the bottom of the hill add more and more Christmas decorations every day.

Some of the units at CV appear to be in better condition than others. We visited unit #1 and felt it could use some updating. The pool is well-maintained, and there's adjoining area with a grill and patio furniture. I believe the units come with beach chairs; ours did.

All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and a good value.

We have also considered Cruz Views for a less expensive trip. We walked around the grounds and pool area - thought it looked very pleasant. I seem to recall that #1 was on the end, sort of facing the street. #3, 4, 5 were above the pool, and the rest were below the pool. Is that correct?
thanks

B&J,

Yes, unit #1 at Cruz Views is on the north end, above the pool. It's the first one you see as you enter the complex.

We stayed in unit 1, last October. As already noted, it's the unit closest to the road. Parking for unit 1 is in a driveway just past the unit, not the Cruz Views parking lot. We weren't ever bothered by noise. Maybe a few people passed by, but we certainly weren't bothered by them.

Unit 1 is air conditioned ONLY in the bedroom. In October/November, it was VERY hot in the living quarters from say 3pm-7pm. If we were "home" during those hours, we went down to the pool area.

The man who cares for the units is named Sunny and that's a great description too...he's just sweet.

There's a resident cat who hasn't been brought up yet, who can't be gated out and is very persistent in his intent to hang with you, eat some, and maybe snuggle.

Cruz Views wouldn't be described by anyone as luxurious. It was kind of like staying in one of our kids' apartments. For what it's worth: that's where Blaine wants to stay this year. It's comfortable.

We have stayed in Cruz Views #7 in April 2008 and last week of this past July stayed in #10.....great experience both times.

In July got a tour of #3, very nice if not the nicest unit at Cruz Views.

Cruz Views is affordable and convenient. Did not have any noise either stay. I am told they are planning to replace most of the stairs and railings.

We would definately stay there again.

We stayed in Unit #7 last year for our budget trip to STJ & really enjoyed it. This is one of the units that the kitchen area was totally remodeled & was very nice. We had no noise from either people or construction, beautiful view out to where the car barges load/unload & beyond to sea, trees to the left with iguanna hanging out daily. There were hummingbirds & bannaquits everywhere which were beautiful. Loved the resident cat, Sam. That units balcony is a little longer than most & has recently had a new ceiling fan installed outside. I only know this cause we're staying there again at the end of October & inquired about it.
Will try to have hubby post pics from our unit etc. later if that helps.

Another plug for unit #7. It is an end unit on the pool end of the lower building. The unit is slightly bigger than the inside units with a larger dining area inside and longer deck outside. The kitchen was recently renovated so is very nice. As previously mentioned, it's a great deal and you can't beat the location or the view. I'd stay again in a heartbeat!
