Jost Day Trip

Post by suzanna945 »

We're hoping to do a Jost Van Dyke day trip for the first time ever on our upcoming trip to St. John, taking the ferry over. I'm wondering what are the favorite day-at-Jost itineraries of forumites? :D

You'll have about 5 1/2 hours so that's going to limit you a bit.

Most folks take a taxi over to Soggy Dollar and hang out there (or near there) for the day. You can walk over to Ivans or head over to Foxy's by taxi (or walk if you're adventurous).

Taxi's will run $5 per person per trip just so you can factor that in. You can also arrange for them to pick you up and take you back at the end of the day.

Plenty of lunch options abound on the beach at and near Soggy Dollar.

We usually rent a chair near Gertrudes (just find a chair and sit down-- someone will come to collect $5 per chair eventually and its yours for the day). Then grab lunch down at One Love Bar.

Foxy's is also a stop for lunch but be prepared for it to take time. Some shops near Foxy's are worth a look for goodies. But this is not a shopping destination.

If you want caribbean lobster (head over to Harris place or Sydneys Peace and Love by taxi). Great deal on lobsters and all the fixings but it will take some time.

Mostly you want to find a good spot and chill.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Gromit. We just did this last Friday for the first time. Got there, took a taxi to White Bay and hung out there until about 1:15- had the same driver come back and meet us. Walked over to Ivan's and back and hung out and had lunch at SDB. Walked up and down the beach a few times. Very relaxing day. At 1:15 we headed over to Great Harbour and hung out at Foxy's for the last hour (the girls love to play with Taboo, the dog, there) before walking over to meet the 3 pm ferry. It's a great day- highly recommend it!

If we wanted to spend longer there and not worry about missing the ferry, what are our options? water taxi?

I am being lazy here, remind me of what there is to do on Jost, is that where the toilet bowl is? What else.

I am going to Foxy's . . . and I am giving him a new t-shirt. Not political--our business t-shirt.
