CSA Insurance co. ROCKS!!!!!
As I mentioned on the forum we were on Eleuthera 5/19-5/28 and unfortunately were robbed while we slept. Two of my bracelets were taken, one being my hook bracelet and some earings.
We had purchased trip insurance from CSA mainly in case of illness or trip cancellation. I did not think I would need it for a robbery!
We had gone to the police dept (island version) on Eleuthera to report the robbery and they took our statement and came out to the villa to investigate etc. They said they would mail the police report to us.
OK, TWO MONTHS LATER with my husband calling Eleuthera several times and CSA calling and faxing Eleuthera daily the police report was received by CSA insurance on Thur, 7/29. We were advised of this by a phone message on Thur that said they were cutting a check and it was being mailed on Friday 7/30.
Well Monday, 8/2 we received a check for the stolen jewelry!!!!
Can't beat that for service. The customer service person we delt with was excellent. Kept us up to date on exactly what was going on. We were very happy with CSA and will use them again.
Just wanted to share this positive experience about one of our advertisers.

OHMYGOSH, PA Girl, that poor family! That is what we get insurance for but luckily haven't needed to use it. I think if it happened twice I wouldn't go anymore!! I would fear that my vacations were offing people!PA Girl wrote:We know a family that had to use their CSA insurance twice due to deaths in the family and once when they were delayed in FL on the way home from vacation. They said each time the claims were paid quickly and without hassle. They also speak highly of CSA.
XOXO
Not that it makes it any easier but it was expected both times, for a very, very long time. It was the parents of our close friend L. Once we were together, with her twin sister, on STJ (last day) and the other time she and her twin were on a different vacation together.
Both times, they ran into very odd travel difficulties.
Leaving STJ, the landing gear on the plane wouldn't retract and we all had to sit in the SJU airport for hours and hours as they were on the phone with their sibilings trying to get things in order.
The other time, weather grounded them for over 24 hours. They could have driven home faster.
And yeah, it is an uncomfortable joke in our group - what will happen this trip? - because another time my dad broke his hip skiing (and had it replaced) while we were on STJ but he didn't tell me until we arrived home.
Our last group trip was tragedy free, thank goodness!

I also have had very good experiences with CSA. Was delayed in San Juan and they took care of our over night stay. Another trip, they took care of a doctor's visit and medicine. As long as you send them the proper forms and communicate with them they reimburse promptly. Great company! Although, I've noticed that their rates have increased some compared to their competitors. But, coverages can be different.
susan and herb: Agreed with you CSA comments - we always use them for our trip insurance, and have been quite happy.
Question: While we love STJ and will come back over and over again, wondered if you two could compare Eleuthera to St. John, as we're thinking of going there.
Thanks

First of all, thank you, susan & herb, for jostling my inexplicably absent mind.
I had completely forgotten about the claim I'd meant to submit to CSA until I saw this initial post. Our trip to Japan in January was cut short due to a family emergency in the U.S. We finally submitted our claim for trip interruption just a week ago... nearly 7 months after the trip. We got a phone call from CSA today telling us that they had processed our claim and the check for the amount we requested was on its way. 7 months of absentmindedness was dealt with in 7 days, including the time it took for the USPS to get our claim to CSA.
