.
Roughly two out of every three Miles anecdotes people
are recounting involve the person sitting and minding
their own business when a three to four inch string of
Miles slobber lands on them. I had no idea my dog was
responsible for slime-ing St John on such a massive scale.
I also had no idea that so many people loved him so much
that they actually found the experience endearing.

Thank you for all the remembrances and expressions of sympathy.

I may never be able to fully convey
how great a comfort they have been. -c

Oh Cheryl I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet dog Miles. He looked like a great one! We lost our Chloe in May after 14 years, so I know how tough it is. Lots of good thoughts coming your way.

Your beloved Miles

Post by cool breeze »

Hello Cheryl first I would like to offer my condolences on your loss of Miles  my wife and I lost our beloved yorkie "Chico" last August as he was about to turn 15. The hardest decision I ever had to make but it was the right decision in knowing he would not suffer any longer. If I may I would like to share a special poem with you. It's titled:

"I am still here"

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.

I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear.

"It's me, I haven't left you I'm well, I'm fine I'm here.

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea.

You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I gently put my paw on you. I smiled and said "it's me."

You looked so very tired as you sank into a chair.

I tried so hard to let you know I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.

To say with certainty. "I never went away."

You sat there quietly, then smiled, I think you knew.

In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning.

and say "good night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,

I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out... then come to be with me

author unknown.

I hope this sheds some perspective.

All dogs go to heaven and wait for us. Hopefully we've been decent enough to show up eventually. So sorry for your loss and ours. The big fella will be missed.

Cheryl,
I have been on vaca for a few weeks and am just now catching up on old posts. My heart goes out to you. Miles was absolutely gorgeous and I would have gladly let him share a string of saliva with me. You are in my thoughts. I am so sorry!
