paranormal activity or scary movie help

Post by djmom »

My 13 year old is lobbying very hard to watch this. I am leaning heavily towards no. She is pushing really hard and I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me. "No" means "no" in my house but I also like to be reasonable and to make educated decisions. The R rating says it is for language, but I had heard this is pretty scary.

OR if you have a slightly tamer horror movie you would recommend. PLEASE. Like a PG-13 one which would be ideal.

She has seen "The Box" and "When a Stranger Calls"...I am totally unfamiliar with this genre....

It is really scary. That said, I don't think it deserves a rated "R" rating. It might keep her up a couple of nights. That's all. There is another one coming out (sequel)--I plan to watch it even though it scared the bejeezus out of me.

This is the scariest movie I have ever seen. It leaves a lot to the imagination--and I am very imaginitive.

I did not see the movie, but saw the trailor for the sequel last week. I would say no. She can watch it on netflix in a few years.

Playing it safe and watching Friday the 13th original version, followed by Nightmare on Elm Street. The girls have started the first and are screaming and laughing their heads off. Super corny. Perfect.

I say let him/her watch it, but it was super duper scary....and that's coming from a scary movie fanatic, Most movies don't scare me.

There aren't any graphic scenes that I recall....it more scares you because of what you don't see or what you are expecting.

Ok, so I get those and just put them on a plate, real nonchalant, and not say anything about them?

Although my daughter will know something is up as I don't know if she has ever had either one. I really don't think she has.

I love a good suspenseful movie, but this one just didn't to it for me. I missed some of the middle parts due to lack of attention. If you know beforehand this is not real, it just doesn't have the scare factor for me. I was more terrified by Open Water.
Going "home" again October 26th!
