Attention Mac Geeks!

Christine's MacBook went all funny last night. the screen now has a green tint and there are visible lines in the screen.

It just happened...she was good and then, poof, it went green.

Y'all found me a water taxi...help!

Yikes! Terrible timing as I'm sure you don't want to be on the phone from down there, but I always get great service for my Macbook from the support team on the phone. Here's a link to get a call going:

Often they can talk me through whatever problem I am having, and if they can't, they can make an appointment for me at a store near me (they can get you much better times than doing it on your own)- obviously you would need to wait until you get home to get to the store- but the support guys can set up the appointment for right after you go back.

Hope it's an easily solved problem!! Wish I could explain it, but mine has never done that

husband says try this:

power the machine off and hold down cmd option P and R wait for it to chime 3 times and let go.

Also what is model # of Mac? maybe he can help more.

Quickie Google search indicates might be a display or graphics card failure, and an older model had a firmware issue.

I had a similar looking LCD display issue with a Canon camera that was used in an underwater case and it turned out there was a defect associated with the internal wiring “especially if the affected products are stored or used in high-temperature and high-humidity environments”.

Maybe that is contributing to your problem? If so, in the wishful thinking category, maybe you dry out the laptop in the A/C and the problem goes away?

My Macbook was doing the same thing--turns out there was a loose connection with the VGA monitor--enede up having to get a new screen--
try hooking it up to an external monitor and see if the same thing happens --if not then you probably nee to replace the screen (or have some screen issue) if it does then you probably have logic board issues

You may have a problem with a cooling fan. Try turning it completely off for a few hours (to cool down) and see if it's there when you start it up. If not, and it appears after you've been using it awhile, you may have a problem with your video card overheating. There is a dashboard application you can download for free called iStat Pro which will monitor and display all your laptop's vitals - including the speed at which your left and right fan are spinning and the temps of all the major internal parts. Install that and you can check to see if anything is getting too hot, as well as if your fans are working.

You can pop over and see Jason at Computers Express located inside of Connections. He can take a look at it for you. I had a similar problem quite some time ago and it was indeed an overheating issue. Can you hear the fans blowing when it is on? Hopefully it's nothing too serious!

By any chance did you stack two laptops on top of each other? We did that in order to get them to fit in the villa safe. Doing so caused my Macbook to go nuts. Apparently, Macbooks use a magnet system to tell it when the lid is closed and to go to sleep. Well, the magnet from the other computer triggered the magnet on mine, so mine thought it should be asleep, even though it was open. Very odd. It worked itself out after a few days.
