Anyone walked from Jost ferry at West End to Sopers Hole?
Anyone walked from Jost ferry at West End to Sopers Hole?
I know this sounds like a super DUMB question and before you ask, the answer is, YES, I am very lazy.
So here's the deal (many of you prob already know this but I'll recap so you understand what info I'm looking for and can perhaps offer some guidance).
We're going to be on Jost for the first leg of our trip this December (then STJ for week 2).Staying at Ivans cabins on Jost. They have a communal kitchen and fridge which is great.
Plan A was that we WERE going to get with Bobby's on Tortola in advance (on line) and have them send over provisions (apparently very convenient and reliable).
BUT here's my thing: last time we stayed at Ivans we didn't use the kitchen and really never took the time to check it out. In other words, I'm not sure how much storage space you have there, how food is kept or what the cooking facility is really like.
Therefore I am reluctant to commit to getting groceries before I know what conditions exist. (I'm really kicking myself for not checking this out more closely last June!)
Anyway, Plan B is to get to Jost, drop stuff at Ivans, take a closer look at the kitchen situation and assess. Then if all looks reasonable and we know what we're working with, we can catch the 2pm ferry from Jost to Tortola's West End/Sopers Hole.
From what I can remember (the SS Scatterbrained crew stopped there for provisions last December), and based on subsequent reviews of available on line maps the ferry dock is directly across the water from the shops at Sopers Hole. The market over there is where we want to be. It was a decent spot with good selection of stuff and decent prices.
I really don't want to mess with cab fare to get all the way into Road Town (I think that taxi fare will actually end up costing more in the long run even with the slightly higher prices at the sopers hole market) and I'm worried that a taxi will be pissed if we ask them to take us from the ferry dock to the shops at Sopers which you can basically throw a rock at from across the water.
I just can't find much info on-line (based on an initial check) about walking around the harbor. As we all know from STJ, a map does not always tell the whole story.
Basically my goal is to take our time, get groceries and get back to the ferry dock in time to catch the 6 pm ferry BACK to Jost. We'll have our trusty rolling soft sided cooler with us to keep stuff cool and for easy transportation. But I know we'll also have a case of water (or two) as well so that's going to be a pain.
With all of that... I am open to advice, suggestions and any experience you can share.
Of course someone who is far brighter than me will probably say, "Why don't you just to X instead?" and will likely make me feel like an idiot for overthinking this thing. But the "Aha!" moment is welcome.
Bring the suggestions on!!
Another option is if some KIND SOUL who is going to go to Jost ANYWAY and also wants to stop by Ivans ANYWAY could check the kitchen out and take a quick photo or to to share with me, for that i would be ETERNALLY grateful and would owe you BIG TIME. Because that way I could just go with Plan A and ditch Plan B altogether!!
As always, thanks for any help you can give me!!

*Another fine scatterbrained production
It's not a short walk to Soper's Hole from the ferry dock but I suppose it's doable IF you're in really good shape. (I'd never make it myself.) I'd suggest you have a taxi buzz you over there and pick you up at a set time. (I'd want to peek in the shops and have a drink at Pusser's before getting groceries.) Have the taxi come back and pick you up and take you back to the ferry dock with your provisions.
