2 weeks on STJ too short ~ Day 2
June 25, 2010
Today is JD’s birthday! How wonderful for my 2 guys to spend their birthdays on such a beautiful island as this! The day started a bit as yesterday, with JD and I getting up around 7am and the kids sleeping in until around 9am. We packed a lunch and decided to go to Maho Bay! There were a few other families there but not too crowded. We found a nice spot to set the chairs and cooler down and headed to the water with our snorkeling gear! We snorkeled for a while before we came back in to have lunch. As soon as lunch was done, the kids went back into the water.

JD read for a while and I just sat and watched the kids play! Then we decided to go snorkeling again and walked a bit towards Francis Bay before getting in the water. We snorkeled over to Francis and then turned around and snorkeled all the way back! We all agreed, even with the clouds, today’s snorkel was better than yesterday’s. The reefs and coral were larger and more colorful. We enjoyed trying to keep up with sting rays as we watched them glide through the water and there were so many fish at times that you couldn’t see the person next to you!

The kids are having a really great time…I am so thankful we are able to share this experience with them! The day has flown by and now it is time to head back to the villa to shower and go to dinner. We enjoyed ShipWreck Landing on our son’s birthday so we decided to go there for JD’s birthday dinner also!

The 4 of us ordered the same delicious meals as we did a couple of nights ago, except this time for dessert, JD and I split the Cheesecake! STJ and cheesecake…heaven on earth! The night wouldn’t be complete without rain! About half way through dinner, it had started pouring down rain. The guys shopped for a hat, hoping the rain would stop but no such luck. We made a mad dash to the car and JD drove those roads a bit slower since they were wet. Luckily the Coral Bay side doesn’t have as much traffic because it was raining so hard you could barely see the road at times and I was nervous enough when the roads were dry! Once back at the villa, we changed out of our wet clothes and into our pj’s. The kids wrote in their journals and we looked at the downloaded underwater photos from the previous day. The new Canon D10 underwater camera seems to be working great so far! I haven’t learned how to use photoshop, so the photos are all untouched for now.
Tomorrow’s Adventure…An Awesome day with Captain John Brandi of Palm Tree Charters!
