Cyril King Airport Rum Lady

We've been to the USVIs 6 times and have never been lucky enough to land at the airport when the lady who supposedly gives out free rum drinks is there. Is she a myth? If not, what time of the day is she usually there?

Funny! We've never seen the rum cart open either until our 7th trip last October. We were so shocked to see her handing out shots that we threw down one of each flavor! What a way to start the vacation! 8)

Hope you see the rum lady on your lucky 7th trip!! :wink:

It's always been hit or miss for me, but I never slow down long enough to grab one even if they are open.

A few months back they were launching an effort to have someone giving out rum samples in Cruz Bay for passengers getting off the ferry, but I'm not sure if that's still going on or not.

I believe we got them at both locations the last time we went!

I got pineapple rum in '09 and coconut rum in '10 as I recall. Probably around 2 in the afternoon both times. Pleasant way to arrive.

When my wife and I arrived on July 3rd (around 2pm) we got some rum. I'm guessing she's only around when the airport is busy; just after our plane landed and everyone had passed through, she left.

Got my shot about 1pm this past Sunday. There were two women handing them out. Only way to start the vacation if you can

Well believe it or not on one of our trips to St John as we approached the runway she was standing out there waving before we had touched down. All 3 of our trips we have had the fortune to "do the taste test".

I believe they are there during normal working hours, until 5pm.

She's been there every trip, except the last 2 years it was very small samples of flavored rums instead of that yummy rum punch!!!! :lol:

Yup, got a free shot off the ferry on 6/24. What a welcome site the little cart was 8)
