I am so sorry about your arrival nightmare...how awful to not be able to even get in!
I returned from STJ early this morning. It rained every day and that is what makes the mosquitoes such a problem right now. We FINALLY went and got some OFF and we would spray that on us and it stopped the mosquitoes from biting. I laughed at us sitting in the airplane- we all looked like we had chicken pox from all our mosquito bites. Our taxi driver, Charles, told us that the mosquitoes are bad on STT too...just so much rain.

SOOO glad that everything worked out for you! Isn't it nice that there still are people that want to do everything they can to make sure you enjoy your vacation? Hope you are enjoying the rest of your stay

I have an idea in regards to a "thank you" gift for the owner. Are there any items that are "local" to where you are from? Maybe send something down to them when you return home!

well, just catching up to this post, sounds like a bummer but at least you're happy now.

We've never had a/c on STJ, but our villa is high up with southeast exposure on Ajax Peak. Can I ask, how high is your villa, and what direction does it face?

Also, I thought most of the villas had ceiling fans. Whenever its been very hot at our villa, the ceiling fans are awesome. They're in every room. Did your villa have some?

There should be a guarantee. I know most of the villa rental companies will swap you. Try VIVA or Catered To, or look up a villa through www.stjohnvillarental.com, and you won't have any problems.

A mosquito guarantee or weather/temperature/tradewind/surf guarantee or internet service guarantee or a guarantee regarding the neighbors and their volume/hours/rudeness? Just curious as to what you feel should be guaranteed. I am glad to here that the OP was able to sort things out and enjoy St. John
