opinion on british island day trip visits???

Post by parrot eyes »

We are gonna be Island bound in a few months. Last year we did Jost. I would like opinions of Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Willie T's.....Should we return to Yost or try Willie T's and then the baths? All opinions are welcome.... Thanks in advance.....

Why limit yourself. Go out with Cptn John Brandi and make various beach bar and snorkel stops throughout the day. Have fun! Ali~

We did the ferry over to JVD in May and because we'd never been over there before I'm glad that we made the trip.It was good to meet Mic and see Uncle Jerry's Soggy Dollar and Ivan's in person. And, yes, the Painkillers really are that good.
But.... I felt like an awful lot like a cruise ship yellow jacket making a day trip to an island. I don't feel like we really experienced Jost. Next time I'd spend my vacation on either VG or JVD.

The Willy T is good lunch spot and is hit or miss depending on the crowd. It's not a destination, rather a pass through. Good roti.

VG is great and the Baths are always worth a visit. Just bear in mind that it's a long trip and a lot of time is spent on the water going to and fro.

Tortola is a pretty big place-- and will feel alot like STT in that regard.

Bad Kitty is a good bet to get you to VG fast as are a few other operations.

Ferries are also a cost-effective option but you are dependent on their schedule vs a private charter.

I'm partial to Jost in that it's not far and it's pretty chill.

If you want to stay longer on Jost, just plan an overnight at Ivan's cabins. Depending on the time of year the price is between $45 and $65 a night. And quite frankly worth it to extend your time on Jost (even if you are paying for a villa back on STJ).

We've done that before and would do it again.

Another option would be to do a charter and just island hop the BVI chain: Ginger, Cooper, Salt, Peter, Norman.

Just another option.

I don't know which charter or boat is the best or most fun, but the Baths is something that you really need to see at least once in your lifetime.

There are very few places like it in this world (one other I think?) and it really shouldn't be missed.

It would be really cool to stay near there to experience during "off hours" without all the people, but still a must see in my opinion, regardless.

If I were you and intrigued with this much in the BVIs, I'd stay there. Grab a place on Tortola and day trip via ferry or a Day Sail to JVD, VG, etc, etc. Maybe split your days between two of the islands (like VG and JVD).

I get a kick out of folks who are hell bent to stay on STJ but play every angle to see all of the great BVI stuff.

It's kinda funny. On TTOL, you never see posts discussing how to do STJ day trips from the BVIs.

One of these years just stay there, man. You may just love it.
