Fresh vegetables

We'll be on St. John in a couple weeks and bringing friends this time. They're hard core vegetarians and on a budget too. What are their best options for buying fresh veggies? I know Josephine's over on the Coral Bay side, but is there anyone on the Cruz Bay side? We'll be staying in the Reef Bay area. I have a clipping once from someone named Bushman93 who posted that he sold veggies, but that was over a year ago.

Otherwise, which store has the best pricing/selection for fruits/veggies? We usually shop Pine Peace.

They'll be bringing some food, but not veggies obviously.

Pine Peace does not have a lot of veggies, but they do have an ok selection of "veggie products", Morning Star/Boca, in there freezer section. Both Dolphin and St. John Market have pretty good selections of vegetables. Starfish does as well, but they will be a LOT more expensive. On Fridays, you can see someone selling from the back of their pickup truck at Tony's, which is on Centerline Road at Gifft Hill Road.

There is a couple of guys who have a vegetarian, rasta sort of place over by the gas station in Cruz Bay. I can't remember exactly where it was but the guy at the info booth near Uncle Joe's told us about it. Some of the local food vendors have veggie dishes that may be more affordable than buying a good variety of veggies.

I've bought Josephine's greens (just LOVE both her micro greens & mixed greens--it's got a peppery couple leaves in it that really spice up your salad!) at both Starfish & Pine Peace.

Since we always stay on the Cruz Bay side, while it may be a bit more to buy them at the stores, once you add the time & gas & trouble, it's far more worth it to us to buy them in the store than to make the trek out to her place.

Thanks much for the replies! Hadn't heard of Trinidad charlie's, will have to check him out. Our friends lived on vieques for a while and helped run a garden/nursery there, I think they'd like this a lot.

I haven't even been there myself, but it sounds pretty interesting, and it sounds like your friends would really get a kick out of touring his farm.
