My ride for the week ... Connolly cabbie
My ride for the week ... Connolly cabbie
At the time - in conversation with the woman at Paris Car Rental - it seemed like a great idea. These wheels can accomodate a decent handful of sandy, sweaty young adults while I drive in comfort. Plus, at a fearless 50 years old, I am up to the challenge.
Well ....
We leave on Saturday. Those steep inclines, hair-raising turns on the edge of a long way down ... was I nuts???? Will my 16 year old son who just got his permit, be scarred for life from riding in this thing? Will my 84 year old father slide right out the back of the short bed? (I think he qualifies as ranking senior to secure a ride in the cab with me)
Has anyone had experience as a passenger in/on one of these vehicles?? It would be nice to have a heads up on best ways to calm the crew as I navigate the roads. I am bound & determined to truly explore & experience St John - the beaches & snorkel spots, the land, the sights, the people ... with an assortment of family members. But now I am thinking I ought to JUST transport my own family - son & 19 year old daughter w/hubbie riding shotgun ... so I don't terrify a niece or her hubbie or a brother. But this would totally defeat the point of having this unique set of wheels ... I had visions of folks piling in and away we go on that day's adventure. But maybe no one will want to set foot in this thing given the roads to be traveled?

Hi Elcnj,
I am not sure of the length of your vehicle, but if you are renting a short bed open air truck they are a riot.
We rented on a few years ago when we had three couples all adults. It was fine riding in the back, the only issue a few of us girls had was some of the steep hill out on the East end, thought we were going to tip the whole truck backwards
I would have your father ride up front, but they are great for a group. Lots os space to tuck stuff under the benches.
