Mosquitos, oh my
Bad in the foliage areas -- not bad at shoreside. Not good at night on the ankles--wear bug spray--it'll be fine.plalb wrote:Leaving in a couple of days...anyone have the latest skeeter report?
They really aren't as bad as previously mentioned as long as you are decked out with some good spray and an intention to upkeep it on those ankles and arms. Got a good one on my forehead... spray in your hands and spread it there.
As everyone knows, I don't go to STJ without Bens. It takes care of everything including noseeums.
I'll probably wake up sprouting an extra toe one day, but I get really bad allergic reactons to bug bites so honestly its worth the risk IMHO.
At home other, less intensive, remedies work but that stuff is just an appetizer for the flying critters of STJ.
If it's any consolation, they do seem to like fresh mainland meat. After I've been there for a week the biting is less of an issue (I guess I must start to taste like a local at that point). Either that or it's the alcohol oozing out of my pores that turns them off
