beach chairs

Post by olivias dad »

I know this has been probably asked numerous times, but are there any places that rent beach chairs for adults on the island? We stay at the Westin and would like to rent some chairs when we go to Hawksnest. I know Island Baby rents beach chairs for little ones, but need some for the "big ones" he he

any thoughts?

I think you can rent that at Cinnamon Bay, just not sure if you keep them for more than one day.

I'm looking for a place that will let you take the chairs with you when you leave - I dont believe places like Trunk or Cinnamon allow this...

Honestly I think you can buy beach chairs at the hardware store cheaper than you can rent them then you can give them away when you leave. Kind of "pay it forward". Ruth sells them at St. John Spice too, I think.

have to agree with diana here --or you could bring this:
http://www.buy.com/prod/kelsyus-backpac ... 83386.html

the kelsyus beach chairs are about 40 bucks each and our BOMBPROOF--they fold up and the arm rest convert to straps for back packing and they fit in the overhead bin (they aren't wide at all they fold down to a decent size--
we've had them for years and they are great--
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

A few years ago, we stayed at Concordia and they didn't provide beach chairs. We rented them from Crabby's in Coral Bay. He had some nice chairs for a decent price. My snorkel broke that year, so I also bought a new snorkel at his shop and still using it.

We have the Kelsyus chairs and love them. They are so light weight and I can pack two of the plus our snorkel gear in a rolling duffel.

I forgot about Crabby's. That's another good way to go.

The tennis and car rental hut at the Westin does rent beach chairs. It is about $35 for the week. It is the little one room place right next to the tennis courts.

I prefer to just buy chairs at the hardware store and then leave them for the next guests, but half the time the hardware store runs out of them.

Well, if I knew Ruth sold chairs, I would just do that.

Wish we had this thread prior to our last trip. Our rental property didn't have beach chairs so we just used the neat sheet we brought. We foolishly patiently waited for the chairs to turn up daily and they never did.
Hoping for a USVI ticker in 2013!

beach chairs at house had been around the island a few times too many.
No ticker anymore. Next vac will prob. be the Fl Keys.

crabby's is at cocoloba plaza--and not to dissuade you from giving them business, but you really might want to not rent---depends on how long you are staying though--if you will use chairs for a week either buy them in STT or STJ or bring them with you--

OD - we had the same dilemma last time we were on Island. We stayed at Westin Villas and needed chairs.

The Westin rents their chairs at the tennis/car rental hut, next to the tennis courts. They are decent enough, but very expensive. I think its $10 a day per chair. We were only on island for 3.5 days so we ended up doing that.

But, if I were going down for a full week, I would take a drive to Coral Bay for lunch on my day of arrival and stop by Crabbys for chairs. I emailed him and I believe he charges $20 a week for chairs. Probably worth it both money-wise and quality of chair-wise, if you are staying for a week.

Plus, its always nice to do the full island drive (especially if its your first time) right when you get there.

There should definitely be a place that rents chairs on the Cruz Bay side though. Could be a nice lil business.

Also, perhaps check with Cruz Bay Watersports. They might carry them.
