Candi's or Joe's BBQ?
We did Candi's for the first time on our recent trip, and I will second all of the above comments, right down to the prep time equaling the Presidente consumption timePete (Mr. Marcia) wrote:I also vote for Candi's. The couple of times we went to Joe's, it took about 45 minutes to get our order. That kind of sucks for carry-out (I know, I know...island time). But, Candi runs by the same island time and it takes her about 15 minutes.
I think her ribs and chicken are better, too. As others have mentioned the sides also rock...the coleslaw and pasta salad are worth getting.
Finally, I do like being able to park at Candi's.
It's a good set-up...park, place your order, have a cold Presidente, and the order is done just about the time the beer is done.

Only other comment is that we did the ribs for a late lunch (followed by a light dinner of smoked salmon with crackers and some pasta salad on the side for dinner - so it was our primary meal of the day), got 9 ribs total in two orders, and had leftovers for another meal. We're not skinny minnies but try to be sensible, and found the portions to be very generous and a good value at $11 (IIRC) for the meal. Also liked the rice and peas for a side.
It was a few years since our prior trip with Uncle Joe's so I don't recall a comparison for the value, but they took longer and the location was less convenient. I just double parked ready to move in the lot while my wife picked up the food.
Can't comment on Candi's, other than everytime we drove by it I kept saying "they're supposed to have good bbq!". But, we partaked of Uncle Joe's in early June. Had been to Unc Joe's five yrs ago, and once before that, and loved it both times. While the wait time was very short, less than a beer for me, the food didn't quite seem as good as prior years. It seemed a little overcooked and not as bountious, if you know what I mean. I still had leftovers, but not my husband.

Gonna throw a wrench in the fine works here and say that we'd been completely converted to Candies last few trips. Found ourselves at Joes last trip and we believe he is back to his old glory days...I think he has stepped up the competion and is good as ever.
You can't go wrong with either one of them!!!

Hoping for a USVI ticker in 2013!
This debate is making me hungry. Candi's sauce is called "Comeback" sauce and it is delicious. I wish she'd sell it so I could take it home. The last time I was there, Hercules of pate' fame was there ordering his dinner to go. (Candi's jerk chicken).
If he eats there for dinner, 'nuf said! Her number for call ahead takeout is 340-779-1452. I have it on my favorites on my I-phone. I need professional help.
