Leaving in 3 days

Post by Firsttimer »

We head out of Baltimore airport at 7am on Saturday morning. I work at night as a bartender/server so I'll be working Friday night until around 3:30 am. Since I'll be working all night Friday night I'm packing now so I can leave for the airport right after work. I made a list of things that I needed to take with me, but if anyone could add things to this I'd appreciate it. And of course Im sure my girlfriend will have a much better list than I do.

-Necessary paperwork (tickets, hotel confirmations, etc)
-clothes
-2 pair of tennis shoes
-sandals
-jacket
-bathing suit
-towel
-sunscreen
-bug spray
-toiletries
-contacts/glasses/sunglasses
-wallet
-cell phone/charger
-camera
-extra batteries
-ipod

Anything huge im missing? Im kind of a minimalist when I go on vacations, I can make due with very little. But I'd rather have the advice of those who have been there before since this will be my first trip.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Nix one pair of shoes. A hat? Proper ID. Customs on return.

Take more cash than you believe you'll ever need. You WILL need it. ATM's are spotty sometimes on island.
Also consider unpacking about half of the clothes. When you pack to go home, you'll remember this advice and laugh at yourself for not believing me. 8)

Cancel the tennis shoes (unless you plan to play tennis at Cannel) cancel the towel unless you are camping and cancel the jacket and probably take out half your clothes :) Your clothes should read something like.....3 pairs shorts, 3 ratty t shirts for the beach, 3 good t shirts, 1 pair beach flip flops, 1 pair "good" flip flops, 2 swim shorts and that's all (maybe undies but some here will disagree :))

Hope this helps - and remember if it won't fit in a carry on you wont need it :)

Don't forget your passport if you plan to go to Jost Van Dyke or any of the other BVIs. Have a super fun time! 8)

I agree with everyone else -if it doesn't fit in a carry on repack- I would suggest a bottle of advil just in case you have a few to many pain killers :D

Pia, I think I need to print your post when I start packing. I always bring too many clothes.

I have to second a hat. I don't ever wear them here, but the sun is so hot down there and it really keeps my face and the top of my head from getting burned.

You don't need tennis shoes. Or anything fancy. Promise.
