Kindle vs Nook

Bert - I found myself thinking about that when I stopped by Barnes & Noble to get a cover for my Nook last week. As the price of e-readers decreases, those stores will be few and far between. Sort of sad, but better for the environment overall. Less paper.

I am a stubborn late adopter of some technologies...and this is one of them...hmmph!

I want to read real books and not be a slave to gizmos...I'm probably just a stubborn dinosaur.

I will be assimilated sooner or later...but it is looking like later at this point.

Although if they have "old dude fonts" it might become a "soon come" technology for me since I am going blind as I slide down the latter side of my 40s...

I absolutely love my e-reader. It has revolutionalized reading for me.

Please do tell how this thing has improved reading for you...I would love to understand this better...maybe I am missing something...

Since I am not a "Volume reader" that isn't a factor for me...

The Nook has won.
I stopped by Barnes and Noble and took it for a test run and I loved it.
I am ordering the wifi version tomorrow as it just came out today and they had run out by the time I got to the store.
I like the look and the feel and LOVED the fact that my local library will lend me books on it.

I will never stop reading regular books but for travel, I know that the Nook will be just what I have been looking for.

I am a volume reader. My house is full of books. I love how the nook has reduced the clutter. Also, and more importantly, I am a person who judges a book by it's cover. When I go to a physical bookstore a book has to catch my eye if I am browsing. This has led to me missing some great titles. Also, bn.com offers more titles than a bookstore, so my options have expanded. I hate ordering books online bc I don't look for a book until I need one and then I don't want to wait.

I don't have either one I use my I phone with the nook application. It is awesome! I love being able to just get any book I want when I want it. I am sure I will eventually get the nook itself but for now my phone works great!

That's a really funny comment, that I understand. I still cannot choose books online. Every week, I shop at Wegman's for groceries, and I always stop and browse the book section, and text myself the titles I want to read. I have to hold a real book in my hands, to want to read it. Once I choose the book, I am fine with downloading it and obviously I read alot.
I think it's wierd that I can't bring myself to read a book without holding it in my hands first, though! I'm afraid I'm missing some good books, for the reason you listed.

I got my Nook for my birthday last month...love it. Barnes & Nobles' free Fridays are great. Last Friday..2 books free. Prices for books are less that my local BJ's where I usually buy. Downloading and reading a minute later is very cool!
