Candi's or Joe's BBQ?

Post by Tim from Chicagoland »

Which do you prefer. Was not aware of Cindi's. I'm returning since being away for 5 years.

We just came back from the island paradise, and while someone mentioned a BBQ place in Cruz Bay, I can't recall seeing one.

That naturally leads to the question, where are these places? I am gathering information for our next visit, you see...!

Keep Smiling!!! :)

BBQ

Post by Nancie-Pa »

Hey Tim! Since I've never tasted Cindi's BBQ I can't really compare them. But Joe's is GREAT! Was drawn in by that wonderful smell and was not disappointed. Highly recommend. If you have the time, do both and let us know what you think.

Candi's is good but a bit sweeter than Joe's. Joe's get our vote for sure.

Joe's is right in Cruz Bay, on teh corner across from tthe post office, folow the smell as there is not a clear sign.
Candi's is on the South shore Road heading out of town before you get to the Marketplace.

Phone numbers

Post by Tim from Chicagoland »

Does anyone have phone numbers for both? Leaning towards Candi's first. Arriving on car ferry & heading east on S. Shore. We'll do Joe's later in the week. I'd like to call ahead to order. Can I, should I, do this?

Our vote is Candi's all the way. We did Joe's for 6 straight trips. Sometimes it was awesome, sometimes it was way over cooked and mostly just OK.

We like Candi's because of Candi (she's fantastic), the drinks while you wait, the excellent side dishes, the parking and the ambiance.

Candi's for sure!! Incredible food, great people, lots of parking...did I mention the food???
YUMM...the best RIBS..along with french fries & homemade cole slaw!
They have lots of other great stuff; but this is my order almost everytime!

p.s. The last time we were there Candi came out & spent some time with us. We got to know her; met her husband. The people are so friendly; it added the extra "personal flavor" to her establishment.

Okay here's my plan. Drop off someone at Candi's while the others go to Starfish for some basics/staples. Or are there other, cheaper options East on S. Shore road? Also need to pick up a pr. of float tubes. Where could we donate them after our trip? I figure if cut in half they would be perfect for a young kid.

I think you can't go wrong with Candi's. We've been there several times. Since you'll just be arriving, grab a rum punch if they have it. It was one of the best drinks I had and cheap! Very quick service and the sides are great too.

I would stop at Starfish for provisions, grab the noodles from the drug store upstairs from the grocery store. We always just find someone on the beach our last day to donate rafts or noodles too. We had kids with us one trip and they actually used the whole noodle to float around. I sure wish I was going to be doing this scenario soon!

Have a great time!

Another vote for Candi's !!! We ate her delicious BBQ a couple times last trip and due to parking convenience, personality and plain good food it gets my vote.

I also vote for Candi's. The couple of times we went to Joe's, it took about 45 minutes to get our order. That kind of sucks for carry-out (I know, I know...island time). But, Candi runs by the same island time and it takes her about 15 minutes.

I think her ribs and chicken are better, too. As others have mentioned the sides also rock...the coleslaw and pasta salad are worth getting.

Finally, I do like being able to park at Candi's.

It's a good set-up...park, place your order, have a cold Presidente, and the order is done just about the time the beer is done.
