Villa Advice

Post by jadkins08 »

Some of you may have read my post last week about a vacation for 13, well now my aunt, uncle, and their 4 children are about 95% sure they will not be able to go. So I need to start looking for a 4 bedroom villa for June 2011. What we are looking for is a villa close to the North Shore beaches, with a pool, A/C, and is kid friendly as our little fella will still be coming. For a four bedroom place we are trying to stay in the $4k range for the week. Thanks for any advice and God bless.

It would be for June next year. I am a planner, so I like to start getting things together EARLY. Thanks and God bless.

Try Hawksnest Villa, close to North shore. I don't know if it has AC and the pool is on the small side (dipping pool), but it looks nice. I have not stayed her, but I keep looking at it (and dream).

If you can up your budget a bit Argonauta is a perfect house: four bedrooms, central air, pool and hot tub, kid-friendly, great views, easy drive on paved roads. It's a very popular house.

Here are a couple others to consider. I haven't stayed in any of these, but they meet your criteria:

Hi Jadkins08,

While we have not stayed at Hawksnest we did do a tour of it last Nov while on Island when we were looking for a villa for this past May. It had not been rented in a fairly long time so it was not very clean at the time we toured, but that you have to take into consideration.

When we walked in & saw the view we were sold, it is nothing you can describe the view out over Hasksnest is unbeivable. It is a very open villa, the kitchen & Great room are all one which is great for socializing, there is also a powder room & laundry facilities on this level.
There are two bedrooms on the uper leverl that are up about 4 stairs from the main level & two dow & each bedroom has an outdoor shower.

As this is an open air villa there is no air conditioning which we could live with if you could close the the room off, in this villa the only way to do that is to lower the steel shutters & then your view as well as the access to the deck is gone.

That was one of our main concerns as we didn't want to have to sit in a closed in villa if the bugs got bad seems to defeat the purpose of having suck an amazing view. Our second concern was the road into the villa.

The road is very scary both to enter & exit, we almost got hit by a Beer truck on our way out  you would definatley need a spotter at the end of the driveway to give you the clear to pull out, to turn into the road leading to the villa, the best way is to go in to the parking area of the Peace hill & when the coast is clear hit the gas & shoot across the road.

My intend is not to give the villa a bad rap, this is just the observations that 4 of us had when we toured the villa. I am sure this villa is great for the right group.

Blue Agave looks nice. Does anyone have first hand experience with this villa? Thanks for all of the recommendations so far and God bless.

We had a large family group at Great Expectations in November and we were very happy with how the property handled our gang of 12 adults and 2 children.

Blue Agave does look very nice and it has good reviews on VRBO. http://www.vrbo.com/240912 Also the calendar shows it is pretty booked so that is a good sign.
Since I don't know, I would ask about the view of the Pond Bay construction.

Having just been on island...the whole project seems to be shut down - half finished and I'm not sure anyone is occupying and of the bldgs. It appears abandoned.

This place does look really nice and would work for either our group of 13 (if aunt, uncle, and kids go) or the 7 of us. Has anyone stayed there? Any reviews? Thanks and God bless.

Island Stones is beautiful but way over your stated budget of $4K/week....

You didn't ask directly, but I'll chime in on Blue Skies. Ready my review from Aug 2008. I would never stay there again. But, the carnival of madness that we experienced may have been a 1-time thing.
