Rainy??

Post by NCSue »

I know St. John could always use a little rain, but has it been particularly rainy there lately? Seems that when I do my usual morning routine of checking the web cam at the Soggy Dollar Bar............its been very cloudy and rainy a lot. I dont' freak out about weather too much - I know it will clear up when we're there and I also know to expect a little rain. Just wondering!

It rained some yesterday - but last night at about 7pm the tropical wave started passing through the VI - serious rain!! - Thunder and lightning all night and all day so far this morning - check the radar or satellite to see how widespread this trough is and how slow it is moving - very windy in the higher elevations - 25 kt. gusts - all cisterns should be overflowing before it is over - mine was overflowing already last night - the webcams will all look grey and wet today - you may have to pull up some archives to see the sunshine.
www.weathercarib.com ---- is a good site to use for local weather here.

Well 24 hours after that post we are still covered in clouds and the rain is unabated - some hours it is very light or intermittent and sometimes it is just a brutal downpour.
Personally I have not left my house for the last 36 hours - have not lost power and have battened down the hatches.

It is POURING right now. We are just happy to be here but will be happier when this passes. Looking at the bright side is 1-our family is together today on Fathers Day just relaxing 2-Im giving my skin a rest so I dont get skin cancer 3-IM not at work. 4- My kids are getting their work done (online class) and are getting to watch the world cup. The one thing that sucks is that the weather is nicer at home than here.....but we're here and we love our place. Ok, enough of that. I just hope the sun comes out soon. A friend of ours is getting married tomorrow down here... outside. 8)

We just got a HUGE downpour. At least our cistern is filling up! Our pool is overflowing. Sun soon come.

Major downpour #5 or 6 that we've counted today. That doesn't include the minor downpours, drizzle, and general rain that's been going on since yesterday. There were good dry stretches yesterday, though. The cistern is definitely full. I think I just saw a boat float by the window. :) Somehow it's still a good day, though I do feel bad for people just arriving or having to leave and be on the ferry in it, to say nothing of the flights that may or may not be grounded.

This is defitely the biggest, strongest rain I've ever seen, in the VI's or anywhere.

Wow it still raining!! We had a total rain out day on our last trip. I think we went into town for some groceries and then went back to the house and took a nap.

Lucky for me Us Irish like the rain and the pipes still work when a wee bit wet! Although, the bride may be a bit soggy.. :)

My father said that the East End of St. John received approximately 2 inches of rain throughout Sat & Sun, which is unusually high for out that way. Looks clear for today, though I am anticipating an abundance of mosquitoes when I arrive tomorrow.
