Midwest Airlines:
Midwest Airlines:
We flew to Kauai with Frontier and Alaska airlines. I liked both of them. There was plenty of room and we were treated well. Then we flew back with Alaska Airlines and Delta. Delta reminded me of why I dislike flying. First, I tried to get assigned seats but could not on the connecting flight. I had to wait until I got to the gate to get seats. The gate seemed chaotic--there was one guy with an enormous line of people waiting. When it was finally my turn we had to accept seats that weren't together. I don't know why we couldn't get seats online for the second flight.
AND we did carry on only and the stewardess said "really why don't people just pay a little more and check their bags" as my boys were stowing their bags. Of course, I could not let that sit in the air so I asked her if she was having a bad day. She did apologize but I watched her treat everyone with the same attitude as they were trying to get their carryon' stowed. Then after everyone seemed to be settled I got up to get a pillow that was snapped on the outside of the bag. She hurried over and said she had to close the compartment. She literally skipped about 3 to get to me and shut it. What the heck! I never got my pillow. Then again she seemed to be trying to make light of her aggressive attitude and said something about how she will be her smiling self once we get in the air. Ok, she did smile later but it was lost on me. Dare I say . . .you can put lipstick on a pig . . . I don't like that saying but it fits here.
I swear the seats were smaller and there was considerable less leg room. I am 5'11 and I was grateful I was in an isle seat.
So, the person sitting next to me told me about Midwest Airlines. Have any of you flown with them? How does it compare to first class?? She made it sound like the seats and leg room were similar.
Of all the airlines we have flown my favorite by a mile is Frontier. We were comfortable in coach and never got her knees banged by the seat in front of us when they reclined like we did on Delta.
The worse: (seats/personnel's attitudes)
Northwest
United
Delta
Just my opinion!

Thank you! From what I saw their flights are not more expensive. I looked through orbitz for a June/July trip to Florida and they were only $25 more than Delta, and less than many others. I am thrilled!
I have flown with Frontier and love them. We were with them going to Kauai last week. The tickets I found do say "operated by Frontier" and some say "operated by Republic".
Our tickets were Frontier operated by Republic Airlines going to Kauai but both planes said Frontier and the stewardess welcomed us to "Frontier".
So, Midwest much own both Frontier Airlines and Republic Airlines and I would assume that they would all have the same quality??
I am SO glad to know of an airlines with standard leg room!
TIA

Don't know anything about Midwest, but I will say that I am really bummed that on United from Chicago to Maui there are not any seatback tvs or things like that which should be standard in this day and age for a flight that long.
My kids are going to go bonkers.

Being from Wisconsin originally, my husband and I have flown on Midwest many times. (They were Wisconsin based - started as the corporate airline for Kimberly-Clark.) We were pretty upset when they pulled out of Bradley Airport here in Connecticut so we haven't been able to use them recently. In addition to having comfy seats, they used to bake chocolate chip cookies inflight. Not only was the smell heavenly, you got some warm, gooey cookies instead of stale pretzels for your snack. That certainly went a long way toward putting everyone in a mellow mood for the flight! On the longer flights with meals, the food was actually decent. Their flights always cost a little more, but it was well worth it.
They recently merged with Frontier according to what I've read so I don't know how that's going to affect their service. If it's anything like before the merger, you'll be quite happy.

Thank you!! Lindy, I wondered where Midwest Airlines came from--why they were off my radar. I am looking forward to flying with them. Frontier was really good going to Kauai. Actually, I thought the reason I was so comfortable in the frontier seats was because I had lost weight. Darn ego anyway!
I vote for getting the iPad. I love mine. Then get a splitter so that more that one child can listen to the movie. Also, you can download games. My teenagers tried to get my iPad out of my hands quite a few times on our last trip. It costs more money but you will be able to use it for so many different things. I use mine most to read books.
