Newbie Trip report Part two

Post by poolmom »

We had arranged for Rachael to pick us up at 3:30,but since the airport was closed down,we didn't arrive until 6:00. Rachael was standing there with a sign waiting for us. That was a welcome sight. We went and got our luggage and we were off to Red Hook. She knew it was our first time to St. Thomas,so she took us around the coast and gave us a tour on the way. That was great. She is a great tour guide and person. She got us to the ferry in time for the 7:00. The ferry ride was nice and smooth over. We got our luggage and went and caught a taxi to Samuels Cottage. It was starting to get dark, but we found it ok. The door was unlocked with our name on the outside of it. We went in and made ourselves at home. We brought a carry on cooler full of meats. Thankfully they were still frozen solid. We unpacked and decided to walk down to town for something to eat and a few supplies. We stopped at Joe,s Rum Hut for a couple of drinks. Yummy We ran into a couple of forumites, Boston Mike and Nicole. I was easy to reconize with my purple cast ,the only plus. Nicole started laughing instantly when they figured out who I was. Bought us a couple of drinks and we were off to find something to eat. We found that when you meet someone off the forum you see them everywhere. It was like meeting old friends. That was great. We ended up getting takeout at Woody's. We shared our orders which was plenty. We stopped at Dolphin Mkt. for a few drinks to hold us until the next day when we picked up our jeep. The hill back up to the cottage can be a killer, but doable. We relaxed on the porch for awhile before bed.Now to get some rest from our long day of travel. Glad to be in St.John.

I didn't get an opportunity to look at the webcam today. Did the rain finally stop over there?

Enjoy your holiday.

Poolmom,

It was great to meet you and what an unusual place to do it at. We just happen to be at the Rum Hut talking with Vick and having a drink and here you come wearing a Barney colored cast on your arm. Nicolle just started to laugh and knew exactly who you were.
