A little pre trip panic

Post by phyl »

We leave in 2 1/2 wks for trip #4 to STJ. Its been 6 yrs since our last trip. The island was still relatively quiet on our last trip but a little more populated on each of our trips. I know there has been alot of activity on the island and hearing about crowded beaches in the afternoons and no parking spaces is really making me a little nervous. Any input into what we are to expect mid June? I know we will have a blast no matter what we encounter....our family always has fun but I was just hoping for some input. THanks alot!! :?

It won't be any worse than driving by Hershey Park in the middle of summer, when there is a concert at the Giant Center.....Just teasing, I am not far from you.

When we were there the last week of February/first week of March which is high season, it wasn't that bad. The only times we couldn't park at a beach was 11ish at Hawksnest on a Sunday and Gibney, which has almost no parking anyway.

We are right behind you, 31 days and counting.

As a wise Yogi once said: "Nobody goes there anymore - it's too crowded."

Kidding aside, as others have and will point out, you can always find space off season.

We returned a week ago from two weeks on island and it was not crowded at all! This was surprising to us since it's wedding season. June/July may pick up a bit since school is out but I wouldn't worry a bit about it.

Go and have an amazing time!

It's all relative.

We are early morning beach folks. The sun usually wakes us up early and instead of fighting it we just eat breakfast and roll onto the beach and finish sleeping there-- so finding a parking space is usually not an issue for us.

And by the time things get busier (and this is again relative) we're ready for lunch anyway.

My general rule is, if you drive by the parking lot and see too many cars, keep going. There's always another beach!

There were several times during our week of vacation in early May where we were the ONLY ones at the beach - Jumbie and Gibney were deserted. Vie's we were the first and only ones there from 10-11:30 or so - Maho, Trunk and others there were people there sure but no "crowds" and no parking problems either!!! Not to worry!
