Shopping in STT for Villas on STJ

Post by LiamH »

Hello all,

I have three villas with family on STJ in a few weeks for the big day.

I am heading down next week for some last minute details.

My Question: What does the Save U less have in STT?
IE: Dried Goods, chips etc?

We have a gaggle of kids and seniors coming so I plan to stock all the villas with dried goods galor..

I am trying to decide if it is best to just lug this stuff on the airlplane or load up in STT..

I cut a deal with the wife to be.. Any $ we save on food, I get to spend on an extra day drinking on Yost with the guys!

Thanks for the advice once again..

Hi Liam, my family of 11: 4 adults, 7 kids (four of whom are over 6'tall) will be renting jeeps with Amalie car rental in STT. The owner will meet us at the airport with the cars and paperwork. once we sign, it's off to the Cost U Less. I've gone over in my mind the best plan of action and have decided to bring one large suitcase filled with scuba gear, some dry goods and liquids for the belly of the plane, additionally, we'll bring a roll on cooler filled with frozen steaks, shrimp, bacon, sausages, butter and chicken. The rest of the dry goods, dairy and produce I'll be purchasing on stt and I'm only planning on about 3-4 villa cooked meals during a 10 day stay. I wouldn't want to miss out on some of my favorite restaurants while on island! Hope this helps. STJ bound in 24 days!!!

Hello Liam!

In March of this year our group of 8 rented vehicles from Dependable (St. Thomas) and stopped at Cost-U-Less. This place reminded me of a small "Sam's Club" - if you are familiar with that store - they have beer, alcohol, pop, dry goods, salad dressings, chips, snacks, frozen foods, meats, nice produce, juices, etc. basically same items as a grocery store, however you might not have the same brand selection. Prices much less than on St. John. We usually check thru a cooler with steaks, ribs, lunch meats, cheeses. However, I believe the next time we might just bring the steaks and get the rest at Cost U Less - Happy Shopping! :)

So, after reading the various post, I'm thinking Plaza Extra is more the place for a couple (my wife and I) instead of Cost U Less for a large crowd (LiamH) . Confirm or deny! Also, do they sell alcohol in the food stores on STT or separate store?

Sherban, thanks for the link to the STJ and STT Google maps. Always a new use for the Google products.
