Cruz Bay to Airport...cutting it too close?

Hey Guys...the past couple of trips I've sat for a while in the STT airport on my way back home, mad that I didn't stay on STJ longer (erring on the side of caution). This time I'm thinking about cutting it kinda close. My flight is at 4:55pm. Would taking the 3:00pm Red Hook ferry be cutting it too close?

Yes too close as the 3pm ferry won't get you to the airport until (probably) 4pm to 4:20pm depending on number of cruise ships in CA and traffic and if you get a less than happy Customs agent or airline employee they will not let you fly as you are under the time deadline. You need to be on the 2pm.

Also, make sure you check the ferry schedule for changes. Last December it had changed from what was posted in the Tradewinds and we were just chatting with Ruth and happened to mention what ferry we were taking and thank goodness we did, because Ruth told us that they were no longer running that ferry.....we still had time, but lesson learned!!!

Hi Pia,

I have a 4:40 return flight and have hired a private taxi. Would I be OK on 2pm ferry also?

Are you leaving during the week or on a Sat/Sun?

The departure times of half past (ish) the hour are always a tough call - I personally would take the 2pm as, with a private taxi you should be there by 3pm so 1hour 40 mins will be fine
