Cinnamon to Trunk Bay?
Cinnamon to Trunk Bay?
Question....Is it possible to swim from Little Cinnamon to Trunk Bay? Would you get washed up on the rocks? Google Earth shows a few beaches along the way that could give you some resting points. Thanks, Parafins
HELLO FROM MICHIGAN...
I have not done it, but I think it could be done. I swam - with snorkel gear and fins - from Cinnamon beyond the point at Peter Bay, and then swam back. Since I was more than half way there when I turned around, I think it's do-able for a non-competitive but comfortable-in-the-water swimmer. I'd probably give myself a lot of room between me and the shore as I passed by the rocky section beyond Peter Bay, because I remember a fair amount of shallow coral.
Longer distance point-to-point swims are on my list for the next time I visit STJ. It's just a matter of coordinating a pick-up.

Lovermont -- I've heard good things about the snorkeling at Peter Bay and was thinking about getting a kayak at Cinnamon and paddling over. Were you impressed with the snorkeling at Peter Bay? It's kinda hard to believe it would be that great since I'm sure some runoff happened when they built all those mansions. You make it sound like getting a kayak might not even be necessary? Thanks!
You don't need a kayak to get over there. At the west end of Cinnamon, you walk through the fence and hike over the rocky trail for like 5 minutes, then you arrive at Little Cinnamon which is an extension of Peter Bay beach. You can swim out from there. We snorkeled around there a few years ago, I mean it wasn't like Yawzi or anything, but it was ok. There's really not a bad snorkel on STJ, we had fun.gwaine wrote:Lovermont -- I've heard good things about the snorkeling at Peter Bay and was thinking about getting a kayak at Cinnamon and paddling over.
