STT airport closed?

Post by STTlover »

Just read on vinow that the airport is closed due to the tarmack being ripped up by an aircraft and all flights are being re routed to SJU. Anyone know more about this?

Real-time (almost) flight info here:

http://www.saint-thomas-airport.com/

showing some delays @ 3:30 PM; nothing of airport closure

There has been on-going runway work with some related delays and rerouting reported in the past month or so.

I'm aware of the on going construction, but from the thread attached, it looks like there may have been issues today.

I think that must be some bad information. My favorite site for tracking air issues is not showing a closure, most (not all) flights are tracking on time today:

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Flightaware is tracking active inbound flights to STT and I see evidence of landings.

Looks OK as of now

STTlover-- followed your link. The poster registered less than two weeks ago and this is just their 3rd post. Maybe it's just me, but I'd be a bit suspicious about the credibility of the info.

Based on the actual airport links (which would have info on them), I'd say this is LIKELY not credible and is someone's idea of a joke.

I'm leaving for the airport to go down there and was about ready to kick someone's ass! That was definitely not funny. ARRGGH. G*# damned Klingon bastards!
