Wednesay at Jumbie
We woke to blue sky and decided today’s choice of beaches would be Jumbie rather than Lameshur.
The morning was clear with a moderate breeze from the east north east so we decided Jumbie would be a good choice since we wanted to stay out of direct sun today. After breakfast we loaded up the Jeep and took the Northshore Road down. We were the first car to park in the parking area at 9 AM and walked the new trail down to one our favorite beaches. The new trail from the parking area is a nice improvement over the old trail with the wooden stairs. A big “thank you’ to those who made this new trail. It’s an easy walk down to Jumbie and we were happy to see that it joins up with the old trail and enters the beach at the same spot on the south end of the beach. Since we were the first ones on the beach this morning we claimed the best stop and settled in. By ten AM others showed up to join us on the beach but no one set up their spots too close and we enjoyed our day. We planned to stay out of the sun and it was strange that with blue sky to the north and south of us there was a straight line of clouds over us for the entire day giving us cloud cover but sunny skies at the same time. That steady stream of clouds, like the white line down the center of the road never parted through out the day. Strange but fine with us. We watched others snorkel but again never got our gear wet since we were both engrossed in our books (I’ve read 3 so far).
At 3 o’clock we decided to pack up and go back to the villa to shower and decide on where to have dinner tonight. Bill showered and went down to have his cigar by the pool while I showered and checked e-mail.
Shipwreck was our choice for dinner tonight and I called to reserve a table. After checking in at home we headed out for a wonderful dinner. It was a beautiful evening. DH had tonight’s special, a delicious mahi mahi dinner and I had a really great New York steak. Tonights jazz combo added to our enjoyment of the evening at Shipwreck. Too full from dinner I took a piece of Key Lime pie home to have later.
I hope this trip report isn’t too dull. We don’t chose St. John as a destination to drink rum drinks until we pass out but rather to enjoy the peace and beauty of the island. STJ is my favorite place on the planet to relax and recharge. If your find my updates too boring, don’t bother to read further postings.

We're not at Summer Wind this trip. It's just the 2 of us this trip and we're up on Mamey Peak at Apito and finish up with 4 nights at Caneel. We hope to see Casa Bueno while we're here. CB's owners are on-island and have promised that we can see the villa while we're here. We love this mid-island location too.
