the price of alcohol

Post by loria »

ok, I am not much of a hard liquor person, I am pretty content with beer or wine at home so maybe this is a dumb question-- but i was wondering is the price differential between the mainland and STT consistent across all brands /types of liquor--for example is the %age savings on a bottle of absolute the same as the percentage savings on a bottle of 18 yr old glenmorangie? since if there is a significant savings it might make sense to pick some stuff up to bring home.

after all these trips i only brought a bottle of rum home once and that was back in the 80's......
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

we found the prices inconsistent from store to store. Charlie's always in the market for Johnnie Walker Blue - $235 I think @ Lily's, $145 at the airport store. Lily's price was more than we can get it for around here. So I'd suggest you know your prices before you go down. We did get 6 bottles at the airport - 2 bottles of Courviser (sp???) VSOP, a bottle of Maker's Mark, 1 Cruzan dark, a Kettle One and something else that isn't coming to mind. I think that all came to about $150.

Definitely shop around and know the prices at home (states vary based on taxes charged).

Then the best thing to do is shop around. STT also has some pretty good spots. AH Riis can occasionally have great prices. Cost u less and Pueblo are also good. As is the Kmart on STT.

On STJ Starfish has good prices on rum as does Pine Peace (consistently low but won't have a lot of the super high end stuff).

CHeck the airport prices before you leave the airport if ur serious just to cross check prices. Occasionally they have specials.
*Another fine scatterbrained production

I find it's more enjoyable to consume the rum, etc, RUM {1st stop rent jeep, 2nd buy 2 cs's water & 12 btls cruzan and some food!)than to bring it home with out the hassle of lugging it further than to the beach....I don't know if it's me but cocktails on the beach at 9 just seem normal when on vaca ..... you can't bring that home .......at any price

Yeah, man...
Me too.

I bet I could make a pretty mean 'smoothie' with that stuff.
