I agree. I read some of the blog entries...I really didn't find it funny...I have a great sense of humor...but it sounds more like the person is bitching about living on St John...just my take... :D

My guess (hope?) would be that this person is a lot more relaxed and less particular than their blog persona suggests. :)

Perhaps I can add a few more :) :) :) to reinforce how not seriously I am taking this. (Thanks for the PM, "Anonymous.")

I get it, people need to vent. I know that life on island can be incredibly frustrating at times -- I mean that seriously.

It's not all lollipops and rainbows -- even though some folks think that it is. Living on island can require holding down several jobs at a time and working hard to make ends meet in an environment that will not always favor a newcomer.

I think the nit picking typos is a bit much though. We all get lazy on the forum and often don't double check everything we type. I am classic at this. Sometimes we are in a hurry to get a response out and don't really care about that stuff.

Occasionally I do note that folks have some serious grammar or spelling deficiencies but I am not the grammar/spelling police. And as long as I can understand what they are asking, I'm good.

They also seemed to make fun of a post made by someone that duplicated a receipt for groceries.

I believe that I was the one many months ago that suggested we could help new folks out by posting what things cost on island.

It may seem silly to a local. But to be fair, on island prices for groceries or certain items can come as a quite a shock for new folks. So this was an honest attempt to share some knowledge with newbies so that they could make better decisions about what to bring, ship or buy. Just trying to put it into context for the blogger.

Hey, more power to the blogger. I just hope they aren't too harsh on folks who are just trying to help out.

Perhaps Anthony could add a spell check feature to the forum? That might be a start!

All in all, it's always good to get another perspective!

Blog on!

Sorry the link was deleted...

I thought the blog was all in fun too. Obviously, I don't think it was a serious work of literature, but interesting nonetheless.
Hoping for a USVI ticker in 2013!

Edited:
While all I wrote below is true (well, I'm not really prim and proper), it was written tongue in cheek. It seems we all have an opinion, believe it to be the only or best one, and often times come down on those who differ. I doubt that the blogger will write her blog differently; I know that I will not read the blog.
The blog was recently mentioned by Frank Barnako in his own blog if you wish to look it up.

My original post:
This blog was added to my blogger.com reading list several months ago. Then, as I am very prim and proper, I was offended and deleted it.

When this thread was posted, I thought "Opps, I am missing something and not properly following the trend." So... I hooked her right back up with the blogger.

But I had not revisited and read any more blog posts until now... she copies and pastes more than I do! She poked fun at my typos resulting from my elderly poor eyesight early in the morning before coffee when I can't wait to see the real on St John news and feel compelled to respond immediately. She sounds bitter; it is not an exception blog.

I thought it was a venting blog, and funny in that way. The tags are pretty funny to me....I think in those terms, on crabby days.
I can identify with the irritation over spelling and grammar, for sure. For a long time, there was a sign along the way on my commute that said "Construction ahead. Accept delays." That drove me nuts!!!

just a word to the wise (or not so) blogs can really get you into trouble. I know two folks that were fired after posting work related stuff on their blogs. before the age of blogdom --a long time ago I came very close to being fired (from a really midlevel chain hotel/motel--so , whatever! but it ws a job)
anyway, a family was living there while they were wating to close on a house and had a room for the parents and a room for their 3 young sons across the hall--i think they were 9, 11 and 13 or thereabouts.
the room was completely trashed--i mean, rock star trashed-- cans of soda in the toilet, KFC GROUND into the rug, writing on mirrors and so much more.
I left a note for the kids. I thought it was harmless--the parents didn;t think so (f course they didn;t have to see or clean the room--which took about 2.5 hours and i had afull floor to deal with).
my manager was pissed--at me. and i suppose i should have spoken to him first (probably wouldn;t have made a difference thinking back) his thing ws about customer service (and he was right--had i gone to him first it would have been fine) but, this was pre internet--
and i have to say when you put stuff out there about your work and your clients, well, you put yourself at risk
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

While I did find some of the stuff quite funny, especially the lady napping on her lunchbox, my first thought was wow, if this person pokes fun at a customer, that could lead to problems.

I thought it was funny in a tongue & cheek way. Let's face it almost everyone makes fun of people at work. It's either the folks you work with or the people you interact with. My daughter works at a department store and she is always coming home with some antidote about a customer or co-worker. I think it's harmless. If it offends you then don't read it.
As far as her losing her job, well it seems from her blog that she is reasonably intelligent so I am sure she knows the risk involved. It's her life , she is entitled to vent if she wants to.JMHO.
Personally I think working with tourists all day would be a strange trip of a job. Lots of personalities to deal with. Maybe venting gets her through the day.
