sharing some new snorkle spots

Post by deejayjay »

Just returned home on Mon from 11 days in paradise. Did some different snorkels this time that I thought I'd share. (As well as most of the usual). Hubby did brown bay, said it was magnificant. I didn't do it because the walk is too far, but he loved it. We did princess bay. Mangrove snorkling. Real unique, but lots of colorful fish, sea stars, and weird bright colored growing things on the mangrove roots. We did haulover south around the point to elk bay. Lots of big coral and fish. Some grooves in rock. A little too scary for me around the point, but good stuff to see. The wall on waterlemon bay. If you walk .4 miles on the Leinster bay trail, there is a very small sand beach on the left. About 1/2 way to Leinster beach. A little way off shore is a wall that drops off about 30-40 feet. Great coral beds and fish before the drop off, and personally, I was too afraid to go off over the edge, but hubby did, and he said life along that wall was awesome. Have pictures of princess and elk bay,but don't know how to upload them to here. Then camera broke.

Oh, forgot one. Got in on the L. side of caneel bay and snorkeled to honeymoon, around point to solomon, and around next point toward cruz bay. Awesome the entire way. Got out on each beach to rest a moment and snack. Way better to snorkle the route that hike the trail.

Hey deejayjay --

That's an interesting idea about snorkelling instead of walking from Caneel Bay to Cruz Bay. Any idea how long that took, with pit stops at Honeymoon and Salomon?

I think we were out about 2 hrs. There and back including stops. Way . . . better than walking. But wouldn't work if you wanted to park on the beach with cooler and chairs.
