How late are stores/convenience stores open?

Post by BojiGirl »

We will be arriving on St John around 9-9:30pm on a Saturday night. Wondering how late convenience stores/grocery stores are open? Would need at least some drinks/snacks for around the pool that first night. We won't need all our provisions at that time. Thanks! Kim

I think Starfish stays open until 9pm...don't hold me to it, though.

We are staying at Bongo Bongo. I was hoping for at least a convenience store or gas station for snacks/drinks. Or maybe a restaurant open for takeout? But actually drinks will be the priority after a day of travel! Thanks for the info....KIm

Worst case..... get your drink supplies on the way to the Red Hook ferry. STJ stores go dark around 9pm.

Nice choice of villa.

have you thought about provisioning? it might be nice to have it all there waiting for you. I used Susie Christy when we stayed @ Bongo but there are other options.

rpplano: Thanks for the advice about stopping in STT. We are excited to stay in that villa...hope it lives up to expectations.

mbw1024: I have thought about provisioning....have to run it by the other couple. Is it as pricey as friends have told me? I'm all about convenience, so I would pay..... I have read your trip report about Bongo Bongo....anything special I should know about that place? Looks gorgeous....can't wait to stay there!

We usually stop at Dolphin Market (on the circle!) to pick up enough for the evening and the next morning, and yes. as someone mentioned, they are open until 10PM. Plenty of choices there...

Pine Peace is open until 10:30 and they have the best prices. They are located on the way to your villa. They are at the bottom of Jacobs Ladder (the big hill after you pass the gas station) on the left hand side of the road. They have a smallish white sign with rainbow painted lettering. I am pretty sure that Dolphin and the St. John Market are both open until 10pm, I'll try and confirm that for ya. Safe travels!!!!
