8:15am midweek flight question

Post by toni »

Hello-
Finally got tickets for this years trip for July yippee! Best part will be showing some friends the islands for the first time after raving about them for years.

Chose to spend the last night of the vacation on St. Thomas so as to get an early flight out. Has anyone taken the 8:15 American flight out of STT? Wondering what time I'd need to get to the airport for that flight. Since we'll be staying probably in Charlotte Amalie somewhere the night before we'll be close by, but I've never flown out at that time and just wondered if it was super busy or not. We still don't get to the home airport until 6pm, but it's better than 11pm. :)

Thanks in advance!

I have, in the past when it was available, taken the old AA 8:30am flight out of STT and would be there no later than 90 mins before so for an 8:15am flight no later than 6:45am but if it is end of 4th of July week probably 6:30am but if carry on only and you have filled out your Customs forms in advance I might risk 7am - maybe - but no later :)

We have taken that one- got there around 6:15 to 6:30 (2 hours early). Most times I remember it being pretty busy- still got through in plenty of time, but don't want to risk it! Well, getting stuck for several extra hours wouldn't be so bad...

I agree with the previous poster - if you were leaving on a Saturday/Sunday flight, especially if it was during high season, I would recommend 6:15am. The reason I suggested 6:45am was because it is a midweek flight and off season (unless it is at the end of Carnival/4th of July then you will need to be there earlier)

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping that midweek would be slower; we'll be coming home the last week of July so should be a good return time. Normally when we leave in the afternoon we're there extra extra early since we're kicked out of the hotel/off island and all, this should work out really well I think.
