we accidentally went down that road in the middle of the night after missing our turn off. It is one of the worst roads on St. John. Just my oppinion, since I have not been on all the roads : ) We thought about taking it during the day but found it too rough and also very narrow, so if some one is coming in the opposite direction someone has to back up.
Ken,
I believe this is the same road we used when going from Mango Bay in Catherineberg to the North Shore Rd. As I stated in a former post....it is very bumpy and exteremely narrow. Sometimes it was fun, kind of depended on moods and circumstances. Riding on it with a full bladder was definitely no fun.
I liked the fact that it isn't used all that much; on one occasion we were treated to a picture postcard image....3 graceful deer standing in the road, surrounded by the lush foliage. I'll try to post the picture we took.
We will be staying at Peace & Plenty in September, which is also in Catherineberg,so I'm looking forward to taking this road again.....mia

It takes both the sun and the rain to make a beautiful rainbow. --Unknown
We used it a couple of time last trip since we were staying in Catherineberg. Honestly, I don't think it saved us any time. It is a shorter distance, but it's unpaved, steep, and very bumpy, so you have to drive slow. It seemed to take the same amount of time as just going through town and then out on the North Shore Road. It was interesting to see all the houses off that road though.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
