I'm assuming these are the latest rates.

The chart in JIMM's link above says $15/single or $11/ea 2 or more. Rachel is $25/ea. If you are saving $$, go on a canned meat cattle car taxi. I never have and never would. Being with Rachel is an important part of my vacation. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Some folks seem to have had the misfortune of being directed to very different taxis than the ones that we take from the airport. It sounds like people have been ending up in local safari truck taxis, but I didn't think they ran to the airport. The dispatcher has always directed us to a relatively new, well-maintained, air-conditioned van. There's been a reasonable number of other passengers, who are usually as excited about being in the islands as we are. We usually seem to meet some really nice folks in the van on the way to the ferry. I particularly get a kick out of meeting people on their very first trip. Their excitement is intoxicating. In all of the times we've been to STJ, I only remember two when there were passengers who were getting off at resorts on the way to Red Hook. We actually enjoyed having the chance to see some new places.

I usually try to get a seat up front so I can talk to the driver. Some drivers are very reserved, but others enjoy providing a narrated tour. We've never thought of arranging for private transportation. Just never crossed my mind to do so. Never saw a need and I've always enjoyed the ride to Red Hook. I enjoy having a look at STT and it helps me to slow down and make the shift over to Island Time. If I was bringing a large group I might think about getting a private taxi, but otherwise it's a part of my STJ experience that I enjoy.

Just used Rachel on our trip last week and she is great !! Is there on time and so pleasant and friendly, she's a hugger and will warn you soon as you meet her. It's well worth it to use her, IMHO.. No hassle,no sharing a ride etc. Great way to start & end your trip.
No ticker anymore. Next vac will prob. be the Fl Keys.
