St. John for Christmas
St. John for Christmas
We just booked our fifth trip to St. John, but this is the first trip during high season. We will be arriving on Christmas Day, leaving New Year's Day. I am a little nervous about this. I am now thinking we should have arrived Dec 26th as everything will be closed! Also, my husband decided to rent a car on St.Thomas which now also has me concerned. What is St. John like for the holidays? Is it really busy? We are staying at Coconut Hill Cottage...anyone have any experiences with that villa? We do not have airfare yet. Watching Spirit but prices seem really high right now.
you are going to pay a premium for airfare at that time and waiting won't get you any bargains (been doing this the past two years---) yes it is crowded (or more crowded)--can't speak for arriving on christmas day-- but I imagine if you are arriving in STT on 12/25 and have rented a car then you will be able to pick it up--but you might want to check on the car barge schedule--
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

Be sure to check out all the extras Spirit adds on. They are even charging for cary on now. You also have to pay for reserved seat assignment. You may come out better or the same with another air line.
Thanks for opening up this idea. We were thinking of a Christmas trip at some time... Lots more money all around hugh?

Not everything will be closed. There are restaurants that stay open, most have a set menu and an early and late seating. I'm pretty sure that some of the bars are open as well. The grocery stores are open, some close early, but they are open. You might get a break on airfare since you are traveling on the actual holiday. We do get busy for Christmas, but Easter always seems more busy to me. It will be a great time! Don't worry too much, just keep an eye out for good airfare and reserve your car early. If you want to go out to eat when you get here, reserve that early too.
We can get airfare for 5 for just over $3000, so I guess this is pretty good?

I woudl jump on that--w were paying 700 per person out of NY--so I think you ar doing very well considering when you are traveling.Amyee wrote:We can get airfare for 5 for just over $3000, so I guess this is pretty good?
