Scooter Rental Location

Post by emmilu »

We are staying on Water Island next February. Can anyone tell me the nearest scooter rental by the Crown Bay Marina (Tickles) where we take the ferry back and forth? Thanks

Sorry, no idea. But to be honest I would NEVER ride a scooter on STJ or STT. But that's just me. Honestly, for STT it's too crazy traffic-wise and for STJ too hilly and better suited to a real car.

Maybe someone else has some thoughts?

I 100% agree with Gromitt....I would never rent a scooter on STT or STJ. Way to many hills, curves, and dangerous area's. That is just my opinion, but I urge you to look through the posts on scooters prior to your vacation so you can make an informed decision :D

Hi emmilu!

My husband and I both ride motorcycles and have practactly our whole lives. I will tell you that there is NO WAY either of us would ever ride a scooter or motorcycle on STJ or STT. Just not the thing to do if you value your life

Heck, we won't even anything that doesn't have 4 wheel drive

XOXO

I feel bad dissing this option because I know that there is an on island business trying to make this work on STJ and I like to support local businesses.

Perhaps on some caribbean islands where cars are restricted this might work but to be honest you will not see too many scooters on either island and locals definitely don't use them a lot.

It's hard to appreciate how dangerous a scooter could be on someplace like STT or STJ unless you've been there.

All that being said, I have not spent any time on Water Island and am not sure about the roads there or whether or not they are conducive to a scooter. To be sure there are far fewer people on Water than on STT or STJ. Ineresting link to Transportation Info for Water Island:

Getting Around - Transportation
Transportation on Water Island is truly unique! There are no taxis and no buses. There are golf carts, cars and feet! For a daytrip you can walk from the ferry dock to Honeymoon Beach and around the general area with ease. If you plan to do lots of hiking and walking its a good idea to wear comfortable sneakers. Many vacation rentals on Water Island come with a golf cart or car; inquire when making reservations. Hitch hiking is an option.
