Dinner near airport/Best Western on STT w/kids
Hi there, This board has been immensely helpful in planning our trip. At first we were booked on STJ but my cousin and his family will be on their sailboat in the area so we are hooking up with them. Can't wait.
We get in at 3pm after a long day of travelling with a 6 and 3 yr old. I've booked the Best Western, next to the airport, for one night so we can get a good rest in before we hit the boat. Any suggestions for dinner that would be very very close to the hotel. I figure worse case scenario we will just eat at the hotel. The kids will be tired, hot and hungry and so will we. We would love some 'local' flavor but we know we should stick w/in walking distance to the hotel.
Thanks Trish

There are two Best Western hotels outside the airport. Be sure that you are selecting the Emerald Beach.
You will probably be in the hotel lobby before 4 and the kids can be on the beach or in the pool by 5. The hotel's restaurant would be a good choice (not just OK), and I have never been to Walkers. It might be well worth the walk.
Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the replies. We are sure that we booked the one next to the airport.
Walker's looks very nice but a bit too nice. There is a mexican place 'Fajitas' in the hotel. Not exactly what we want when visiting the VI's but beggars can't be choosers. I'm sure the kids will enjoy quesadillas and a few margaritas will take the edge off of a long travel day.
Thanks!

Agree with Jimg20...Hope you booked the B.W. Emerald!
It too is next to the airport but a whole lot
better than the other one, Carib Beach. Good food
and great pool with waterfall. Didn't catch what day
you are coming in but I know they used to have
a mgr. welcome reception on Monday's and another
day that I can't remember. It was outside near the
pool and offered different flavors of wings, fruit trays and veg. trays, also desserts. Very good and all you want at no cost.
Have a great time on that sailboat and let us
know what it is like!!
Sherry in SC
13 DAYS TILL STJ

Well everyone, we're staying at the awful Carib Best Western. I know, I know, I know, its supposed to be horrible but I got a $75 rate and the Emerald beach was $200+. So, I figured, well, I can walk to it from the airport (after flying from 5:00am until 3pm) with the kids and I've read decent and bad reviews on Trip Advisor. I figure as long as its not totally filthy/disgusting one night isn't going to kill us (hopefully - keep your fingers crossed!). I will be sure to tell you all how our experience was and I'm sure "you get what you pay for". It will make staying on the sailboat that much luxurious.
If you decide you don't want the Mexican restaurant at Caribe, last time we stayed at Emerald Beach there was transport provided by the hotel if you wanted to go to a restaurant at the other one. We really enjoy the Italian restaurant at Emerald Beach.
I'm sure you'll have an amazing trip and honestly, after spending a week on a sailboat, the hotel will probably seem like you have tons of space. Unless of course you are on a gigantic sailboat!
Enjoy!
