We sent an email out to everyone this morning asking for feedback on our new comment and review system - please use this post to discuss, or you can email or PM me your responses. Thanks -

The one thing that bugs me is that a new screen come up every time you look at a post or post a comment

That sounds like a browser bug of some kind. I haven't had this issue. Anyone else having this problem or have had it and solved it and can offer some help?

I know if you click in the left hand column on any of the "Latest Forum Posts" you open a new screen - but I was not aware of it being an issue in any other way.

So....is that correct that every "left hand column on any of the "Latest Forum Posts", brings up a new screen?

So, if I click on each subject, I get a new screen? When I close out....I have to click off 5 or 6 or 8 screens. I am using a MacBook Pro, does that make a difference?

Thanks Anthony

Yes those links over there are pulled from an RSS feed and red back into the site, they open new windows - that is "normal" behavior.

The alternative is to just start here http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/f ... um.php?f=1 and not use those!

Actually, I have not used the "user review" link under "Trip Planning" - just went straight to "St John/Villa Review" so I can't reflect on changes or new features.

Am I correct in thinking that reviews can be posted by anyone who follows those guidelines, not just forum members? Late last year I wanted to respond (positively) to a villa review but the PM would not go through because the username could not be found.

I am getting a lot of feedback privately - thanks to all - I really appreciate it. Just to let everyone know, it seems that real reviews are running about oh I don't know... 100% preferred. Which is what I thought was probably going to be the trend (though not quite so strong).

Having the ability to comment, on REVIEWS, has been mentioned also... that is a little meta for me in general and I think can can lead to a host of other issues/problems - but - it is interesting.

As to the new system - it will probably work like this (this may still be fine tuned): to leave a real "review" you will have to register -

To comment, you will have to register and/or sign in with Facebook or some other user account (maybe Google, maybe others) - and - you can also leave anonymous and/or a review with a name but with no registration or log in, but those will not be posted until moderated... sounds more complicated than it is :)

Anyway - step one will be asking everyone to register for the new system. Your existing account will not work with the new system, but I do encourage everyone to try and keep the same handles when they sign up.

I just want to thank EVERYONE again for all the feedback - I have never received so much feedback on anything I have ever raised a question about here. It is very good to know that so many people are out there and find this place useful and think it can be more so. Thanks!

Hey Anthony,

Photo's are always a great feature to trip reports and basic posts. Is there an easier way for members to just cut and paste photo's from our personal files?? I have an account with snapfish, which I opened for this site specifically, and well.....honestly I don't have the time to move things around. I can't respond at work and when folks talk about something specific, and I know I have a photo that would be useful, I usually blow it off because it's time consuming to move my photo's or my family is on the computer etc. What do you think?

LAZY Budman!

Well in the new review system you will be able to upload your own photos or videos, or paste in code from other photo and video sites. On the this forum as it exists though, that is sort of difficult. I am toying with a "Trip Report" section but I know it will cause issues with people having to use that instead of this. One thing I definitely need to do here on the forum is document ways to more easily post photos for people who already have them on popular photo/sharing sites...

All is under review!
