Recent St. John Weather

Post by NSaint »

Can anyone comment on the recent weather in St.John? I've been checking the forecast everyday for the last couple weeks and it seems like it shows rain every single day. Are the showers typically brief? I'm heading down next week for the first time and I'm starting to get a little nervous haha! Thanks!

Don't sweat it. If it does rain it typically moves off before you can finish your beer. And if it doesn't that's a good excuse to have another beer.

NSaint,

If we all had a dollar every time this question was asked

I swear the weather forecasters just keep the same forecast up from January to June and then they actually monitor for Hurricane season.

Keep in mind that the area covered has a fairly sizable footprint.

The notation for showers means that SOMEWHERE in the vicinity there is a rainshower. Generally they are intense and brief and can be described as "isolated." There have been times when it rains in Cruz Bay but Coral bay gets nada. It also typically rains at night. Again short, intense bursts.

The only time you should be concerned is when you see terms like "Tropical Wave" or the "H" word. Otherwise you cna count on it not being much of an issue.

And hey, even if it does rain (while not ideal on vacay) I still maintain that a rainy day on STJ is better than a sunny day at home!

Thanks! :D 23 days to go until St. John and I'm already working on an island frame of mind.
