Villa Provisioning anyone?
Villa Provisioning anyone?
In the past, my husband and I have found that going to the grocery store upon arrival on St. John is the worst. Some may not mind it, we absolutely hate it. So for the last 2 years we have had the villa provisioned for our arrival. The first company we used was good but VERY pricey. We were lucky enough for this past trip to find Ali... she's the best. She will allow you to choose the foods you want, not from a predetermined list for a mininmal fee above cost. Check her out..she's worth it!!!

We used Ali this past December and we were very pleased!! www.villfoodvi.com Such a great convenience to come "home" and have the frig stocked. We got the Breakfast #1 package (altered a little to include Spicy V-8 for our morning Bloody Mary's! - you know that's healthy, right!!???)and we got the Lunch Time package. For 4 of us it lasted most of our 10 days and there was always something to snack on no matter what time of day - without having to go to the grocery all the time!! I hate that at home, let alone on vacation!!! We are also cooler people with our frozen meat, macaroni/rice side dishes and frozen veggies so we are all set when we get there - some fresh greens and we're all ready for anything!!
I have long said that if someone could do this more reasonably then it would REALLY catch on. I just couldn't bring myself to pay the prices some companies were charging.
Has anyone used the new service with that new market near the Westin? They were supposed to get this up and running.

*Another fine scatterbrained production
We do it every trip and I agree, if someone figures out the right combination of offerings and pricing, I think it would really take off. We do enough to get us through the first two days.Gromit wrote:I have long said that if someone could do this more reasonably then it would REALLY catch on. When on VG, we had a service do everything we needed for 10 days, including booze, and it was great and the fee was reasonable. I think this type of service is much more common in the BVIs.
Anyway, when we were at the market next to the Westin in late Feb/early March, the shelves were bare. It was weird how little they had stocked. Produce was ok, meat was non-existant. (not that I was buying meat, I was just checking out the situation.) There was plenty of beer and liquor. The wine section was awful. What little there was wasn't what we were interested in.
So I would guess they weren't ready to start the service yet.
I will say, they had the friendliest gals on the island working there, no joke. We were stopping in once a day for milk, juice and such.
